Best Albums Of 2009
A bit late but better than never... these are the albums that i've looked forward to and enjoyed over the last year.
Chimaira this time round decided that speed was not everything and opted for slow and sludgy which make the whole sound of the album heavier than ever before, at times knocking of the death metal door but still maintaining the chimaira sound, brilliant new direction.
Dark Matter Dimensions
After losing their singer, its become obvious how talented he truly was due to the fact that he was replaced by TWO singers, one for the melodic singing and the other for the growls but the album is very much one that is in par with the last one which was a masterpiece and they have done well to cope with the changes.
Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da
What is the first thing these guys do on their well anticipated return? They go and release a porn video for their first single of this album and cause mayhem and controversy, even this late into their career, they never lost their sense of humour and this is a solid album, again, nothing has changed musically, very German, very Rammstein to me!
Never been a big fan of these guys in their past, they were your average typical hardcore band but they have gone in a very Pantera direction and the singer for the first time on this album starts using clean vocals!!! Who knew he could sing!?!? Love those vocals and the guitars are awesome!!
And representing England: we have Forever Never from Essex! Spoke to them few times and they are sound!!! I would go and say that they are the UK?s version of Sevendust and a singer who can replicate the same vocals that?s on their CD on stage live.
Shark Bites and Dog Fights
This is a very unique band that blends all sorts of genres and there?s nothing like them out there in the world! They released a mini-album full of pumping tunes for the masses to rock out AND to dance to! Extremely catchy!
Well it only has been over a year since The New Game and now we have the new one, still fresh as it just come out couple months ago, they decided to go back a little to explore what they have left behind, the songs are well structured and well written, some the best Mudvayne songs can easily be found on this release... explaining the self titled.
Pray For Villains
The power of this band is just immense!! For this release only, they have decided to experiment a little and go for something that was out of their elements and it works to a certain extent but not always, the reason why this is at 3 is because of those true Devildriver songs alone deserve to be recognised, roll on the next album!! Apparently it?s all going to be faster!
Bringer of Plagues
Years in the Darkness
This album is by no means perfect but just what i was hoping for from the ex-Fear Factory members to do and it does live up to my expectations and things will surely get better from here onwards if they don't give up.
Ok, i'm gonna go get a bulletproof vest...
dont forget the flame retardant suit.
better never than never, in this case
im 12 and what is this list
I could have, like alot of people here, easily pretended to include acts like Mastodon, Converge etc... to make a "respectable" list but then i realised that i'm not that much of a cunt to do that just to fit in.
i like skindred
mmmmm... I am saving this list.
4 and 3 are quite good. 5 was a misfire. I'm not really into the rest. You need to listen to more music for sure.
^Its the main reason why i'm here, since i've been here, i have come across some really cool acts that i never come across before, especially outside of metal too, like Delerium who i really liked... so i'm getting there even though it doesn't seem that way.
Cryptopsy - None So Vile
Is that a suggestion?
It's a really fantastic extreme death metal album. Probably heavier than anything you've ever heard no joke.
That album goes back to mid 90's... and i just read the review to their latest one and it seems they got really bad over the years.... but i will check that old one.
Yeah their new albums suck, None So Vile is their best, I think their only one worth checking out. It's brutal though.
Try some of these: http://rateyourmusic.com/list/Celestiarch/2009
At least I wasn't the only one that really enjoyed Dark Matter Dimensions =]
Not a bad list, certainly not as bad as mine would be, that's why I didn't make one xD
i've only heard 1 mudvayne song and 1 Scar Symmetry song and they both kinda sucked, the rest i either won't bother with or will never ever get into
3,9,10 are good....but the rest...man.
Sick of people on sputnik repeating "listen to more music"..stop being a sheep and just listen to what you want to people. Fucking opeth (extremely overrated), converge, cryptopsy (although none so vile is amazing, don't just listen to it because it seems to be like a sputnik right of pasage) the same thing over and over it's actually people like THESE who need to listen to more music.
3, 5, 8 and 10 are good.
