Survey Concerning The Offspring
I had an argument with a friend over what genre The Offspring and specifically their album Americana falls into. I say that up through Ixnay on the Hombre, The Offspring were a punk rock band. Once Americana came out they were definitely pop-punk (albeit a respectable pop-punk band). My friend (who will remain unnamed) vehemently disagrees. He assertains that The Offspring are a "So-Cal Alternative Rock" band. I'm not sure what that means or who would fall into that category... but whatever. This is where you come in. Please tell me what genre you believe Americana and The Offspring as a whole fall into. Ok, ready....set...GO! | | 1 |  | The Offspring

09.10.09 | Although Ixnay carries a lot of The Offspring's past punk roots, there is many pop hooks through out. So I would say both are "respectable pop-punk" albums.
So Cal alternative doesn't describe Offspring. That's for like maybe Eve 6 n such. | Inveigh

09.10.09 | Their first few CD's were all pop-punk (or at least punkish), but they had dropped most of their punk influences by the time they made Americana. I guess I could go along with "SoCal alternative rock". |
