Bungy Report (essential Reading)
I took today off work to catch up on sleep and now I have time to
waste making a list on Sputnik. 1-6 are the bands I saw the last two
days chronologically, 7-13 are digs, 14-30 are albums/bands I plan on
listening to soon. 31-41 are my favorite Plan-It-X releases, 42-49 are
my favorite Red Scare Industries releases, 50-56 are my favorite It's
Alive Records releases, 57-64 are my favorite Paper + Plastick
releases, 65-86 aren't there, 87-100 don't exist either, 101-115
aren't possible |
| 1 | | Texas In July I am
The August Burns Red show was at El Corazon in Seattle. I don't listen to any of the bands
that played, but my buddy invited me and I live in the middle of Washington and there is
absolutely fucking nothing to do there (which is why everyone here smokes weed). At the
venue, the walls are sticky and the sound guy always fucks at least four things up, but that
didn't deter 150 or so scenester tools from showing up early to catch their set. Texas in
July looks like they should be back in a 10th grade classroom. I couldn't get into it, but
they sounded crisp and the crowd loved them. Whatever. The highlight was when the
person who was most likely the only cute girl there accidentally touched my junk when she
moved past me. |
| 2 | | Set Your Goals This Will Be the Death of Us
Whenever I go to shows I always hope bands have an enthusiastic and receptive
audience, even if I don't like the music and want them to get off stage. Before Set Your
Goals I was worried that the metalcore fans wouldn't be into them and make things
awkward for everyone, but I was wrong about that. Everyone went nuts. Someone from
ABR had a nerf gun and shot at Set Your Goals throughout their set. I kept trying to
think of who their smaller singer (they have two for some fucking reason) reminded me
of and after I realized he looked just like my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Jeffris. |
| 3 | | August Burns Red Messengers
These guys were pretty epic, I don't know their stuff though so all their songs blended
together. The bassist looks like BJ Novak, which was moderately hilarious. The best song
imo was Redemption which ended their set, and they dedicated to the Redeemer. Jesus
no doubt was stoked about that. |
| 4 | | Four Year Strong Enemy of the World
This concert was at WAMU Theatre with Rise Against headlining which means there were about
4000 more people there. I had the rare opportunity to see Set Your Goals two consecutive
nights when Four Year Strong took the stage. I missed half of their set, because my fast food
reliant friend spent 30 minutes at the Rite Aid restroom just before we got there. I didn't dig
them too much. |
| 5 | | Bad Relgion No Control
FUCKING FINALLY. One of my favorite bands of all time. Not the perfect set, but they still
kicked ass playing mostly from New Maps of Hell, Dissent of Man and The Empire Strikes First
and songs like American Jesus, Sorrow and Infected. I was hoping for like Generator or
Epiphany or I Want to Conquer the World but they didn't come up. Greg Graffin is a damn
legend. |
| 6 | | Rise Against The Sufferer and the Witness
This was fun. The crowd always goes bonkers during their huge choruses. I'm tired of typing.
