2011 Poptarts
Way more great music this year than I'm used to getting. |
50 | | Thrice Major/Minor
Good cd, but is mainly this low down because i'm spiting them for breaking up. Also, kind of disappointing : / |
49 | | Destroyer Kaputt
Yeah, I know this should be higher, but I just haven't clicked with it yet. |
48 | | Mahria S/T Cassette
Just started listening to this, i'm sure it will get higher once it gets more familiar. |
47 | | The Pains of Being Pure at Heart Belong |
46 | | Panic! at the Disco Vices & Virtues
Judge all you want, this was a damn good comeback. |
45 | | Das Racist Relax |
44 | | Manners Apparitions |
43 | | Into It. Over It. Proper |
42 | | Will Haven Voir Dire

29 | | CunninLynguists Oneirology |
28 | | James Blake James Blake |
27 | | Nicolas Jaar Space is Only Noise |
26 | | Mastodon The Hunter
Mastodon being fun again, which makes me a happy Poptart. |
25 | | Fucked Up David Comes to Life |
24 | | Crash of Rhinos Distal |
23 | | Swarms Old Raves End |
22 | | Mansions Dig Up the Dead |
21 | | Beau Navire Hours
Probably my favorite Screamo this year, which is kind of disappointing. Eh, still a very solid cd. |
20 | | The Mountain Goats All Eternals Deck |
19 | | The Weeknd House of Balloons
Sexy sexy sexy. |
18 | | M83 Hurry Up, We're Dreaming |
17 | | Fleet Foxes Helplessness Blues
For some reason I didn't like this the first few times I heard it. I can be pretty stupid some times. |
16 | | Florence and the Machine Ceremonials |
15 | | Tim Hecker Ravedeath, 1972 |
14 | | Manchester Orchestra Simple Math
Amazing cd that grew off me very fast. |
13 | | Touche Amore Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me
Nowhere near as good as their To the Beat, but still a very solid album that sounds a million times better in concert. |
12 | | Baton Rouge Fragments D'eux Memes
It's like, french punk. |
11 | | Pianos Become the Teeth The Lack Long After
Probably going to move down my list at some point, this spot is held right now just because I saw them two days ago and it was one of the most emotionally powerful performances I have ever seen, which make listing to the album a whole lot more interesting. |
10 | | Andrew Jackson Jihad Knife Man
Less immediate than their older stuff, but after giving it some time to settle in plus seeing them play most it live I realized it was just as good as all their previous efforts. |
9 | | Bon Iver Bon Iver, Bon Iver
Somehow sounds just like For Emma without actually sounding anything like it at all. |
8 | | Bomb the Music Industry! Vacation
This one took a while to grow on me, but by the end of the year I loved just about every single song. Catchy as hell, smart lyrics, and a boatload of passion. |
7 | | Laura Stevenson and the Cans Sit Resist
IT'S SO ADORABLE (and actually good!) |
6 | | The Wonder Years Suburbia: I've Given You All and Now I'm Nothing
Personal favorite pop-punk of the year, very personal lyrics, tons of catchy hooks, and loads of other fun stuff. This cd defined my summer. |
5 | | Defeater Empty Days and Sleepless Nights
This was my number one for a long time, but it has grown off a bit sadly. Once again, nowhere near the best hardcore of the year, but for some reason this one stuck the hard |
4 | | Thursday No Devolucion
My surprise of the year, which makes their hiatus even more sad : ( |
3 | | WU LYF Go Tell Fire to the Mountain
This took me a while to fall in love with, but after seeing them play the whole damn thing live in addition to of the fact that I love being Hip As Fuck I was in love. |
2 | | Frank Turner England Keep My Bones
Well duh. This jumped up to second favorite after seeing him live; easily the best performer I have ever seen, and the fact that this is almost as good as Love Ire and Song is more than enough to earn a spot in my top 5 |
1 | | La Dispute Wildlife
Heavy fanboying here; loved these guys forever and damn this didn't disappoint. I know that this isn't the best album of the year but it is probably my most listened and most loved, so for that it wins the title of favorite cd of the year. |
