My Ranking Of In Flames' Albums

Went through the entire In Flames discography, here's how I'd order it.
1In Flames
Colony

It's a tough call but I've always preferred the heavier, more lively nature of Colony to anything else the band have put out.
2In Flames
The Jester Race

This is an album that has continued to grow on me and always makes for an interesting listen. While the production isn't so great I've since been able to (mostly) look past it.
3In Flames
Whoracle

What this album seemed to lack for me was the haunting and effective melodies of The Jester Race, but it still had some very solid material and I'd say this is my favorite In Flames album in regards to the lyrics, themes and the concept.
4In Flames
Clayman

I love this album's sound but none of the tracks really hit the ball running and utilize it well enough (save for perhaps "Bullet Ride") to make it as strong as its predecessors (save for "Lunar Strain").
5In Flames
Reroute To Remain

Yes, the more casual and mainstream style here isn't nearly as good as The Jester Race, Whoracle and Colony, but I feel it was handled rather well and at least gave me hope anything new would be good listening material.
6In Flames
Lunar Strain

For me this is a solid but ultimately forgettable album. Having Mikael Stanne on vocals is a bit different but he does a good enough job (though Anders work up through Reroute to Remain is superior if you ask me).
7In Flames
A Sense of Purpose

I'll probably get a lot of hate for putting this and others over Come Clarity but the more prominent melodies and slightly smoother vocal style made it a far more enjoyable and interesting listen.
8In Flames
Come Clarity

While there are some strong tracks here they only make up a small chunk of the album while the rest is all quite weak and have left sour thoughts. Essentially, it's a decent but mixed album.
9In Flames
Soundtrack To Your Escape

It was a tough call between this and Come Clarity for the band's weakest effort but despite the issues I had with the latter, the heavier, more in-command styles ultimately gave it an edge over this. Soundtrack did have some decent material but the lyrics are a major step down from its predecessors and it just feels too sugarcoated.
