| Influential Albums.
5 albums that dramatically altered the type of music I listened to and
spurred me onto new and better jams. | 1 | | Deftones White Pony
Specifically asked for this for my birthday freshman year, friend bought me
Yellowcard instead... Walked to the store the next day and bought this. This CD
helped prepare me for harder and heavier music. | 2 | | Radiohead Ok Computer
While my classmates jammed Blink 182 and Greenday I was rocking out to Paranoid
Android and Lucky. This one stayed in my CD player for a pretty long time. | 3 | | Between the Buried and Me The Silent Circus
My friends mom owned a bar in highschool and he gave me a print out sheet of all
the bands that would be playing there. Downloaded Mordecai, played the song and
heard the screaming (which I didn't really like at the time), but was doing homework
and didn't feel like getting up and changing the song. I thought the transition into
cleans was a lead in to a new song at first. Once I realized it was the same song I
replayed the song and slowly but surely started enjoying the screams. This pretty
much got me into all of the hardcore I listen to now. | 4 | | The Receiving End of Sirens Between the Heart and the Synapse
My fallback album if I can't decide what to listen to. | 5 | | The Mars Volta Frances the Mute
Heard the Widow, hated it. I was at a friends house and his mom (who is a teacher
and has a great taste in music) handed me a copy of the cd and told me to listen
to it from start to finish whenever I get free time to do so. "Even if you don't
initially like it, listen all the way through and then make your decision. Don't jump to
conclusion" Great advice, there are so many albums that I would have missed out
on if I had dismissed them after my initial impression and not stuck with them. | |
