07.18.11 | Do that son! That Graviton album is boobs! |
Powerban
07.18.11 | Pretty cool you have Graviton on here.
2011 has been pretty quiet for Post-Metal, there honestly isn't anything coming to mind that has been released that will blow you away. A lot of it has been quite generic in structure. I'm sure it's about to stir with the eminent release of Amenra's latest, and possibly a Neurosis and CoL album sometime late in the year.
As for last year - Fields Of Locust, At The Soundawn, Radare and Rosetta impressed the most.
If you want some of the lesser known "decent" releases this year, you should check out VYGR, Consciousness Removal Project and Alaskan. |

they're not post-metal, even if the first one has elements of it. they're like atmospheric post-hardcore. |

DSHS have some post-hardcorey songs but also some pretty ambient songs that I think would be more closely associated with post-metal/rock than post hardcore |
opblaaskonijn
07.18.11 | Most of the bands are generic and shit anyway. Isis and Rosetta are highly overrated imo, just like alot of post-metal bands, they just do the same thing that's been done a thousand times. |
Relinquished
07.18.11 | None of these recs are as good as Neurosis, Isis, Pelican, or Cult of Luna. None of them.
eternium had good recs even though Swallow the Ocean and Giant Squid suck.
Humanfly - II
Adai - ...I Carry
Angel Eyes - Something to Do With Death
Battlefields - Thresholds of Imbalance
Blackwaves - 0130
Caldera - Mist Through Your Consciousness
Disappearer - The Cleansing
Drain the Sky - Haunted by Rivers
Kehlvin - The Mountain Daylight Time
Kingdom - Demo
Ocoai - Breatherman
A Storm of Light - As the Valley of Death Becomes Us, Our Silver Memories Fade
Tesa - Heartbeatsfromthesky
Tusk - The Resisting Dreamer
the last one is the best one off this, it has Pelican members |

change your way of thinking
"Most of the bands are generic and shit anyway. Isis and Rosetta are highly overrated imo, just like alot of post-metal bands, they just do the same thing that's been done a thousand times."
that's why it's dying
just wait until Neurosis and Cult of Luna release their albums late this year/early next year
and then they're probably done. then post-metal is dead.
mark my words. |
anarchistfish
07.18.11 | Well Neurosis, Isis and Cult of Luna are pretty much the most successful post metal bands so there aren't going to be many better than them |

There's actually the relatively new movement of "post black metal" which is also pretty good. Bands such as Agalloch, Fen, Nest, Les Discrets, etc, are kind of creating a new sub genre of post metal. |
ThyCrossAwaits
11.10.11 | Oh my goodness, Irreversible - Sins is one of the best post-metal records I've ever heard. |

11.10.11 | Post rock isn't dead. It's just turning a bit stale before it improves again. Which will probably happen once GY!BE and/or Sigur Ros release new albums. |
