Soundtracks To The Apocalypse
Songs that would go well with impending doom. I don't think my
music taste is generic, just in case you were wondering.
|1||Bonnie 'Prince' Billy|
Death to everyone
That subdued effects-laden guitar at the start gets me every time. Also one
of Will Oldham's best works.
Dirges along at a fairly slow pace and builds momentum until the distorted
guitars rise to the forefront in the chorus. Curtis also adds emphasis to the
depression through his lyrical and vocal tone.
|3||Les Rallizes Denudes|
Enter the Mirror
Shitty production, bad singing, minimal instrumentation. Seems not like a
recipe for musical success. Les Rallizes Denudes defy that through this song
and album (77 live).
Gira does what Gira does best.
From left field, but for good reason. Whatever they did to their guitars
works. Especially in that last minute.
Yea, you kinda forgot GY!BE in here. lol. They're like the most apocalyptic band out there. Especially F#A# (infinity)
...omg omg omg omg omg omg OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely needs some tracks from A7X - City of Evil
Not their best work by any stretch, but it fits the list very well.
A7x and LRD are not allowed to be on the same list.
This is the best list of songs I have seen in a long long time. Like I came on here fully prepared to say needz moar Kid A this is too good.
Professor Fate? ...!
yes, i know godspeed are apocalyptic and such but its a bit of an obvious choice. sure, the cars on fire and theres no driver at the wheel. and the machine is bleeding to death. but everyone already knows godspeed so why bother?
Instead of stating the obvious (F#A#), look into:
Moss - Sub Templum
Sol - Let There Be A Massacre
Black Swan - Black Swan (In 8 Movements)
Wraiths - Plaguebearer
Sunn O))) - Black One
Awesome list, 2 and 5 are absolutely awesome. Check out Alexander Scriabin-Vers La Flamme, it's pretty much the soundtrack to the end of everything.
Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls (or have I been watching Zombieland too many times?)
