The Good, The Bad, And The Downright Fucking Ugly
A friend recently gave me 3gb worth of music, contained within that are numerous albums, some of which are great, some of which are pretty meh, and some of which are just fucking terrible. Here are two examples of each, in descending order | | 1 |  | Opeth

Morbid Tales/Emperor's Return
Having never listened to black metal before I came into this album, I was unsure what to expect. My judgement? I recognize 3 things:
a) This is a classic, simply by the amount of influence Celtic Frost has on today's black metal (yes, I did my research before commenting)
b) The riffs were probably considered "br00tal" when they first came out, so it is unfair to say they are weak compared to today's stuff, its like saying Alice Cooper isn't shock rock because TODAY'S shock rock isn't the same as his original stuff (btw, somebody has, no joke, told me that Alice Cooper isn't shock rock, for that exact reason)
c) To rate this low would probably get a "troll" sticker slapped on me. | | 4 |  | Trivium

Not too bad, once again, but the songwriting is so annoying and the lyrics just flat out horrible so I just can't bring myself to respect these guys. | | 6 |  | Hinder

10.23.09 | Nah, they're not that bad, I can see why he likes them, if you separate the songs they're pretty good, but as a whole the album is too repetitive, which is the issue. None of the songs on their own are terrible, but put together they're absolute crap. | renegadestrings
