Grover Wants You

to check out the following albums. a large number of these were rec'd to me so shoutouts to those people below
1Bears and Bright Lights
Bears & Bright Lights

i will continue whoring this until i leave sputnik. really short fantastic ep. pop-punk with some twinkly emo influences. my review for this is inaccurate. don't listen to it. RIYL: making lists asking for 'good pop-punk???', wearing hoodies and shorts on summer nights, liking people who like the get up kids
2Gates
The Sun Will Rise and Lead Me Home

i feel kind of obligated to mention this too cause it's kind of the follow-up under a different name. instrumentation is awesome and more post-rock influenced but they changed vocalists and that was a poor decision. still good though. RIYL: 1 and then wanted some more, post-rock fetishes so hard that you don't care what the vocalist sounds like, alright just listen to 1 guys
3Lowercase
The Going Away Present

now back to the good stuff. this was a really sweet find, kind of like built to spill meets unwound? that's hyping it up way too much i'm sorry but whatever RIYL: 90s indie, how it feels to be...-era SDRE lite, finding albums in boxes in your room, hep kat likes this so you should too guys
4Hood
Cold House

thank you jared. if the album cover looks like something you would like, listen to this. for real. RIYL: clouddead, looking out windows during the winter, bands that try to sound like kid a
5Broken Water
Whet

realllly overlooked from last year. nice and sludgy and shoegazey and post-punkish and i'm gonna namedrop unwound again but this time it makes more sense. RIYL: unwound, hating shoegaze revival bands that are all twinkly and british, those old nickelodeon shows where they poured slime on people
6Julie Doiron
Julie Doiron and the Wooden Stars

really timid singer-songwriter. female vocals. probably takes a few listens to get into the groove of but it turns out to be a really warm comfortable listen when you do. does that make sense? probs not RIYL: girls, uncreative album titles, dancing with people who can't dance
7The Memories Attack
LP2

band title really says it all. i guess you could say this is like yuck as far as the 90s indie revivalist goes except it's nothing like yuck and it's better. RIYL: having boners for 90s indie, having huge boners for 90s indie, nostalgia, having sex to 90s indie in your girlfriend's garage
8Bailter Space
Robot World

porch rec'd me this. it's awesome, i'm just gonna quote him and compare it to mbv and sonic youth. i should like this more than i do but i think 7 kind of wore out my 90s indie semen but yeah really good album guys hit it up. RIYL: punching me for all the times i've referenced 90's indie in this list, i promise i'll stop, bands imitating good bands but doing it well
9PS I Love You
Meet Me at the Muster Station

yeah a bunch of people have listened to this one but i just wanted to give it some more love cause it really did not get enough last year. like a sloppier japandroids except instead of singing about being young and stuff they don't really sing about anything. RIYL: not cleaning your room, going to concerts and being astounded by the number of beards, hugging fat people
10Peter Wolf Crier
Inter-Be

another one from last year. sputnik generally loves these pop-folk type bands so if you just read that and knew i was talking about you then check this out. i was really surprised this didn't get more love. RIYL: m. ward, for emma-type bon iver, rocking chairs
11 i made one too many spaces
on this list
12Various Artists
The Best of Grover

this was all just an excuse to put this in a list. everyone should listen to this now. thank you.
