My Musical Journey - 2 Years In The Making

This shows the evolution of my taste from my late elementary school all the way through middle school. (Freshmen year next year. Damn, I hate being young) :D
1Various Christian Rock Groups

I was raised in a very protective environment, and while that always has
its pluses, it gifts you with a great deal of crappy music. I knew practically
no music whatsoever until the second half of sixth grade.
2All American Rejects

Move Along. All during the fall of '06, my friends sung this song non-stop.
Finally, I caved in. Around mid-winter that year, I went out and bought my
first album ever. This phase lasted for a few months, until I was introduced
to the next step in my journey by a friend of mine.
3Linkin Park

Ah... Linkin Park. My friend Rob constantly ranted about the wonders of this
band. I caved in, deciding to see what was the hype was about. After
numerous terrible anime music videos had been witnessed, I went out and
bought Hybrid Theory, and later Meteora. MTM was picked up 6 months
later.
4Disturbed

I was actually introduced to Nu Metal by a 4th grader, which goes to show
what type of fans they have. At any rate, around this time I started 7th
grade, got a iTunes account, and bought all their singles. I don't think I
ever bothered getting an entire album.
5Avenged Sevenfold

Again, my friend Rob pulls through. This was the first real musicianship I'd
witnessed, though it took me a while to get into them.
6System of a Down

College friend of mine played this on the radio of his car one day while he
and I were patrolling the local strip mall for something to do. I asked him
the name of the band, and began listening repeatedly to their singles. It
took me probably 6 months to actually appreciate their musicianship,
however.
7Muse

Again, my college buddy Josh turned me on to them. Took me a while to get
into them, and I stumbled across them about a year after he talked about
them. This was a bit of branching out for me, and my first journey outside
the metal genre.
8Radiohead

This was a continuation of the Muse genre, and around the time I
discovered Sputnik.
9Opeth

Again, credit goes to Sputnik. Grabbed their Watershed album, and later
Blackwater Park
10Thrice

Josh gave me their Vheissu album about two years ago. I didn't give it
much of a listen, as I was stuck in my infatuation with nu metal....
However, I stumbled across them on Sputnik after about a week. (They're
everywhere here) and decided to give them a listen. The rest is history
11From here on in

The reasons for discovery become very boring. I read a few reviews of a
few albums, then go give it a listen.
