SeaAnemone
09.12.09 | tried to do it with "no repeats" but I just don't have nearly as strong connection when I include that many bands than I do to these. |

Scatterbrain
09.14.09 | I demand a picking of the best comment and I demand it be this one! |
BigTuna
09.23.09 | List is win. Although personally, MO's new album is bounds better than ILAVLAC. Also, not a metal fan? Have you tried getting into any? |
SeaAnemone
09.23.09 | to a small extent, yes. When the "basics" didn't click I kinda gave up. Any rec.s other than the usual Iron Maiden? preferably something with a little different song structure? |
BigTuna
09.24.09 | Well, I've never been into the "classics" of metal. I enjoy the more recent stuff. But what do you want? Clean singing or no? Transitioning to metal always takes a bit of time. For me, metalcore was a great start. It helped me get use to the harsh vocals, and from there I moved to everything else. I like the more melodic side to metal. Soooooooo, a starting place. Well, try Protest the Hero. Specifically Kezia. If that clicksl, then we'll go from there. Let me know. I might be completely off, but yeah, we'll see. Others may be able to help more than I, but there it is. |
BigTuna
09.24.09 | Also, you have a couple post-hardcore albums on here. Keep going on that track. Try Life in Your Way- Waking Giants and He Is Legend- I Am Hollywood. Both really good. |
Fapper
09.24.09 | Glad to finally see some appreciation for 80 |
Yotimi
09.24.09 | SeaAnemone, i'm sort of in the same boat where I'm not really into a whole lot of metal and you probably don't like it for some of the same reasons. So here are some that you might like:
Sepultura - Chaos AD (strays away from speed and technicality and focuses more on grooves and creative drumming)
Metallica - Ride the Lightning (cliche maybe but some of the best guitar arrangements)
Machine Head - Burn my eyes (just listen to "Davidian")
Meshuggah - Chaosphere (insanely complex time signatures and polyrhythms)
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power

CrisStyles
09.24.09 | you gotta listen to The '59 Sound if you like 66. |

09.24.09 | generic sputnik top 100 albums list #629 |
SeaAnemone
09.24.09 | BigTuna- thanks for the help, I'll try those 3 and get back to you definitely.
Fapper- of course, it's much better than their latest imo
Yotimi- Sepultra and Meshuggah sound intriguing, it always helps coming from somebody who has similar tastses too
Cris- I do listen to it, a lot actually. It's my #12 on here.
rasputin- yea well whatcha gonna do bout it? huuh? |
rasputin
09.24.09 | laugh at you |

SeaAnemone
