SeaAnemone
02.10.13 | that, and sweetass party jams but I feel like sputnik is more competent at rec'ing the former than the latter
also: if you want to be a successful recommender maybe provide 2 or 3 recommendations and add a little blurb about what it is as opposed to like 9 album names, that would be super helpful
also, it could definitely be stuff I've heard before, just try to stay away from anything over-obvious
but you know, thank y'all either way |

02.10.13 | I'm lost in Bloom by Beach House right now. Don't know how you feel about that one. |
SeaAnemone
02.10.13 | hm well I remember being really into goddamit when I was like a highschool freshman but I don't think pop-punk-y stuff is really what I'm looking for, thanks anyway
and yeah purplene has been like my most-played artist of the past year... amazing band |
SeaAnemone
02.10.13 | yeah I've been obsessed with Teen Dream in the past... I never quite caught onto Bloom but I'll put it on my list of possibilities |

02.10.13 | elephant in the room is different stars but i cant imagine u havent heard that |
SeaAnemone
02.10.13 | dude acad that's like exactly the kinda thing I'm looking for though (everyone else take note), even though yeah I like that album a lot already
have you heard Lotte Kestner (lead singer)'s new album? it's out like this week-ish |
someguest
02.10.13 | Their albums aren't mindblowing but it's easy listening that's also pretty easy to get lost in.
Try Exploding Head by A Place To Bury Strangers too. It's really, really, really loud post-punk shoegaze, Jesus and the Mary Chain worship. |
theacademy
02.10.13 | nope im in a place where downloading is difficult so im way backed up on new releases
;S |
Hep Kat
02.10.13 | have you listened to Anne? Dream Punx, Power Exchange, and the split with Whirr are all fantastic |

SeaAnemone
02.10.13 | "The Complete Guide to Insufficiency
Lifestylez ov da poor and dangerous
The Sea and The Bells
Music for 18 Musicians
Program Music I"
okay so entries 1 and 3 could have easily gone on this list because I listen to those both on the reg
I find Program Music kinda ehhh sometimes don't ask me why sorry
what are the other two though? |
Winesburgohio
02.10.13 | Lifestylez is east-coast hip-hop with sick lyricism and fabulous beats
Music for 18 Musicians is utterly essential neoclassicalish shit based on repetition and minimalism. I cannot recommend it highly enough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO1VVONqL4U |
SeaAnemone
02.10.13 | sweet, that goes to the top of my to-listen-to list, checked out some minimalist stuff last year and it was a good decision |

02.10.13 | Dude Maybe I'll Catch Fire is not typical pop punk you don't understand |
ConsiderPhlebas
02.10.13 | Perfume Genius - Put Your Back N 2 It
Despite the terrible artist/album name, this is pretty brilliant. It's elegant, haunting and so depressing in that way which makes you want to raise your hands to the sky out of something like joy. The song 'Hood' is so simple, almost the equivalent of sparsely lined pencil drawing, but powerful, especially very late at night.
The Voice of the Poet - T.S. Eliot
It is what the title suggests, the poet reading his work, including a full reading of The Wasteland. The crisp readings give it all a beautifully icy feel, with the language forming a kind of enveloping scaffold of ideas that draw you in.
Helios - Eingya
All the best sunday mornings of your life distilled into music, slow and patient and full of attention to the joys of quiet sound. Easy, drawn out melodies and rhythms, lovely to fall asleep to I find. |
Winesburgohio
02.10.13 | Fuck yes Helios
Also ConsiderPhlebas you have a great username. Not too fond of Eliot's voice though, it's weirdly reedy and not exactly mellifluous |
theacademy
02.10.13 | maybe try music from the television show "Nashville" |
theacademy
02.10.13 | wait the person who suggested that to me has now indicated that they were joking |
ConsiderPhlebas
02.10.13 | Had to look up the word mellifluous, but you're right. I find that unpleasant feel works for the
poems, though, gives them an added edge. Saying that, Ralph Feinnes reading Four Quartets is lovely. |
