12.08.08 Bands That Do Complexity Right.

Bands That Do Complexity Right.

Some bands do complexity for the sake of complexity, others do it because it sounds inventive. This list separates the men from the boys.
1The Number Twelve Looks Like You

At first listen this band is nothing short of noise. Keep listening and you will discover the real complexity in their music.
2Between The Buried and Me

Colors is by far the best metal album from 2007. They don't do stupid metal, they do smart metal, math metal. Also, Alaska. End of story.
3Venetian Snares

Although it's a different genre of complexity all together, dear God, just listen to it.
4The Fall of Troy

Albums like "The Ghost Ship EP" and "Doppelganger" have some of the most complex, erratic tempos out there. But with their newer albums I feel as if they are being complex for the sake of being complex.
5Protest the Hero

Between "Kezia" and "A Calculated Use of Sound" Protest had some of the most complex instrumentation out there. If it wasn't for "Fortress" they would be higher up on this list.
