In / Casino / Out
This album contains the essence of post-hardcore elements in my opinion. It has the raw production, the clever arrangements, hooks and often big choruses, trimmed down to only 11 songs and the albums flows flawlessly. I know a lot of people would argue that Relationship of Command has better production, more stand out tracks and bigger influence, but this album just contains the essence of ATD-I and all the elements that made this band stand out from the crowd in the late nineties, right before the band eventually made it big and imploded afterwoods. | | 2 |  | Glassjaw
Worship And Tribute
This album made me get into Glassjaw. It flows like no other Post-hardcore album and manages to incorporated various styles into their already established Hardcore stylings. The album has only gotten better with time and now stands as a crowning achievement in the genre of the new millenium. | | 3 |  | At the drive-in
Relationship of Command
This is the album where ATD-I made it big and was being hailed as the new "Nirvana". The album is quiet frankly an explosion of energy and anger, combined with great hooks and more polished production than found on their other records. The album does not make the leap in songwriting, they made from their first to their second album, but the album as a whole flows perfectly and makes it clear why critics and the mainstream audience finally stood up and took notice. | | 4 |  | Fugazi
Repeater
Fugazi pretty much invented and defined most aspects of the genre throughout the early eighties and nineties. This, their first real album, is filled with great rock songs and great political statements combined with genius guitar playing. Guy and Ian are trading off vocal duties which gives great variation to the sound, much latter seen and inspired in the works of bands like The Blood brothers. It is a true classic and actually still sounds fresh after more than 15 years after the original release. | | 5 |  | yourcodenameis:milo
Ignoto
This album is where Yourcodenameis: Milo came into their own after their great mini-album debut: All roads to fault. This album is more complex and harder to get into and is easy to dissmiss as a mess upon first listen, but give it time and it will unfold as a strange, beautiful mess of a record. In my opinion they should have called it quits after this, before releasing: They came from the sun, but this still stand as a truly great, lost record. | | 6 |  | Drive Like Jehu
Yank Crime
This album, like Fugazi, was a statement prehaps more musically than politically. The album has longer songs than most other Post-Hardcore releases. The bans almost play every song until it collapses upon itself and rebuilds it again until it is done. The guitar playing is, again like Fugazi, at the forefront and gives the album an edge and anger fueling every track on the album. It is somewhat overlooked compared to the work of Fugazi, but notherless just as thrilling and exciting to listen to. | | 7 |  | Glassjaw
Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About
This is the first Glassjaw record and it is more in the veins of a hardcore record, than Worship and Tribute. The Album has some standout tracks, like Siberian Kiss, Pretty Lush, Ry Ry's Song, Piano and so on, but also more more straight forward hardcore tracks, which makes it the most aggressive release from Glassjaw. Now I would just wish for the band to finish their third album, as the studio version of the new song: You think you are John fucking Lennon is amazing and indicates that the next album could be equally amazing. | | 8 |  | The Blood Brothers
Crimes
The Blood borthers are not a band for everyone, especially vocal wise, but this record stand as their most matured and focused offering in my opinion. The album is not as frantic and ruthless as: Burn, Piano island, Burn, but it is more consistent and flows better than their other records. It is more poppy and accessible, that their other records, but tracks like: Thrash Flavored Thrash, Peacock Skeleton with Crooked Feathers, Beautiful Horses and Love Rhymes with Hideous Car Wreck show that they can both make crazy and noisy punk/rock songs, while developing into more poppy and mature territory. | | 9 |  | Bear vs. Shark
Terrorhawk
This album has both elements of Indie rock, Post-hardcore, and general pop hooks which makes it a sublime variety of styles, combined with some really raw and powerful vocals thrown in. The album has a feel ranging from pop hooks straight from a Motown record, to inventive rock guitar playing and can appeal to anyone who likes rock, Indie, punk and pop. The albums is not flawless, but it serves as great reminder of how great this band actually was. | | 10 |  | Million Dead
Harmony No Harmony
This album is quiet overlooked and it is probably due to the bands sudden break-up not long after its release. The album sounds like a progressive version of Black Flag, with even Choir making its way into some of the tracks. The album is a tad darker and introverted that their debut: A song to Ruin, but it actually still comes off as the most accessible of the two. Its a great record with minor filler tracks and plays like a great gateway into the English Post-Hardcore scene. | |

01.30.09 | 1-4, 6, and 7 are all incredibly sick. I'd have a different Fugazi album, but that's just me.
However, Terrorhawk isn't as awesome as Right Now You're In The Best Of Hands. I'm not too sure about how I feel about Harmony No Harmony compared to A Song To Ruin, though. | BallsToTheWall

01.30.09 | Yeah, 13 songs is amazing, but it is a compilation of their two first eps, so what I meant was that Repeater was the first album recorded together at the same time and release with teh intentionen of being a full album to begin with. | handoman
