yep, first game was 1992. impressively they kept the gameplay and most of the character models exactly the same and they're still cool as hell today. |

yeah but the series has changed so much since then (for the better imo) that the first few games are virtually unrecognizable. i haven't actually played the old ones, but i've seen some gameplay videos and stuff on youtube and the only real similarity is that it involves demons.

but yeah the main game is still as retro and hardcore as it's ever been; talking to demons to recruit them pokemon-style, fusion, exploiting enemy weaknesses for bonuses, character models were left mostly untouched, same themes, and same dungeon exploration. the sub-series like DDS and persona do incorporate some unique ideas but the core game is the same |
