Lovely Day...

Woken up. Lovely day. Still in a bad mood after listening to Robin Thicke's ralbum yesterday. rBastard. Anyway, here it is, along with a bunch of records rI've been enjoying this summer.
1Robin Thicke
Blurred Lines

DIE CUNT DIE
2Primal Scream
Screamadelica

My quintessential summer album. Hearing the opening bars of 'Movin' On Up' is
pretty much a sign that summer is here.
3Camera Obscura
Desire Lines

It's amazing how easily people's opinions are shaped here. There's no way this'd
have a 2.8 average were it not for an iffy staff review. Fuck you Rudy!
4Meat Puppets
Meat Puppets II

Saw them supporting Mudhoney a few months ago. Tremendous. Since
rediscovered my love for this album.
5Public Service Broadcasting
Inform - Educate - Entertain

Mixes a range of electronic and authentic backdrops with samples from old
propaganda films. Great stuff. Well worth seeing live too.
6The Beach Boys
Pet Sounds

Anybody who questions this needs to have a long, hard look at him/herself.
7Melt Yourself Down
Melt Yourself Down

There are plenty of users here who'd love this. Think jazzy afrobeat with punk rock
urgency. Check it out.
8Franz Ferdinand
You Could Have It So Much Better

Rediscovering my love for Franz ahead of their new album. This and Tonight are
both seriously underrated.
9Jon Hopkins
Immunity

My album-of-the-year-that's-actually-been-released so far.
10The Replacements
Let It Be

Androgynous' chorus was on repeat in my head for about a week. Probably my
favourite Replacements record.
11Wilco
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

I've owned and enjoyed this record for years, but it's only recently that it's become
one of my favourites.
12Wu-Tang Clan
Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

Shouldn't need much explanation.
13Belle And Sebastian
Dear Catastrophe Waitress

Saw Belle & Sebastian a few weeks ago. By God it was amazing. This is my
favourite of their polished Rough Trade records.
14 RM Hubbert
Thirteen Lost & Found

This man is a genius. I can't stress that enough. This record won the Scottish
Album of the Year award next month, and the follow-up (out September 27) is even
better. Gonna hype the shit out of it.
15Weezer
The Blue Album

Because summer and the blue album go hand in hand.
16The Prodigy
The Fat Of The Land

Still an absolute beast of an album. Perfect for driving.
17Parquet Courts
Light Up Gold

The Minutemen reincarnated. With a bit of Television thrown in for good measure.
Awesome!
18 Frankie & The Heartstrings
The Days Run Away

Not quite as good as their debut, but still a solid effort full of great sunny day indie
pop tunes.
19Daft Punk
Random Access Memories

Anyone who leaves this off their summer list this year is either kidding themselves
or missing out.
20The Tallest Man On Earth
Shallow Grave

I prefer The Wild Hunt overall, but for me the highlights here are still his finest
songs. There's No Leaving Now still does little for me.
21Queens of the Stone Age
...Like Clockwork

Probably my 'album of the summer' for this year. Brilliant comeback.
22Motion City Soundtrack
My Dinosaur Life

One of my favourite pop punk albums. Not that I have too many favourites, but still.
23The Magnetic Fields
69 Love Songs

Been getting into discs two and three more than I have before. Disc one is still the
best, but each one has a handful of glorious standouts.
24Teenage Fanclub
Grand Prix

Probably my favourite Teenage Fanclub record. Never understood why their others
are utterly overshadowed by Bandwagonesque.
25Arab Strap
The Last Romance

Because no list of mine would be complete without something Arab Strap or Aidan
Moffat-related.
