Favorites Of 2011 So Far

Anything I'm missing?
1Protest the Hero
Scurrilous

protest's most scatter-brained work turns out to be their most cohesive with patience. Hooks fly like flocks of seagulls and Rody gives his best vocal performance yet. A serious lyrical overhaul makes it easier to take the band seriously.
2Radiohead
The King of Limbs

Codex and Give up the Ghost are two of the best songs they have ever written, and the other songs are not slouches.
3PJ Harvey
Let England Shake

I'm her biggest fan girl.
4Ulcerate
The Destroyers of All

I wish I knew a better, more potent word for "dense" to describe this.
5Lykke Li
Wounded Rhymes

Most danceable record of the year so far?
6Destroyer
Kaputt

Gorgeous, even if it does occasionally remind me of 80's porno.
7Eisley
The Valley

This just... feels good man.
8Mitochondrion
Parasignosis

Tied with Ulcerate for best DM album of the year so far.
9Amon Amarth
Surtur Rising

fuck haters. Hail Odin. Rape and pillage and enslave. Get pumped. Fuck shit up.
10James Blake
James Blake

Super hyped album is super hyped for a reason.
11Glassjaw
Coloring Book

So glad this exists. So excited for the new album. They're the most lovable assholes in post-hardcore: quite an accomplishment, because there's no shortage of assholes in post-hardcore.
12The Dodos
No Color

They basically hit the refresh button. If you like Visiter you'll dig this, but not as much. Good thing I REALLY liked Visiter.
13Dance Gavin Dance
Downtown Battle Mountain II

I'll probably find an album to replace this very soon. It isn't that good, but it's good.
