Finally, I have finished all the albums of 2009 that I set out to listen to. My best of is finished. Once again, these albums rule hard.
4.0 - Depressive Black Metal from Canada. Fuck, this is such a great album. This is a very slow, expansive style of BM that rules. Debut of the year.
By the Throat
3.5 - Dark Ambient/Electronic from Australia. This guy is from my hometown, with a really captivating dark ambient piece that never gets boring.
The Voice of Steel
3.5 - Folk Metal/Black Metal from Ukraine. The song 'Ukraine' is probably one of the best of the year, in all genres, rules.
3.5 - Sludge Metal/Post-Hardcore/Emo from France. Dirty, chaotic, awesome.
3.5 - Dark Ambient/Folk/Neofolk from Germany. These guys need more love, relatively unknown band that produces a great ambient/folk with black metal roots.
3.5 - Stoner Rock from Sweden. These guys are cool, nice catchy tunes with outstanding choruses.
3.5 - Death Metal from Sweden. Zoo's rec. Hard to fault this excellent record.
Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain
3.5 - Psychedelic Rock/Spoken Word from UK. Need to look into these guys some more.
3.5 - Folk Metal/Viking Metal from Sweden. Really solid folk metal release.
3.5 - Gangster Rap from Gary, USA. Wow, this guy is a really good underground emcee. Really needs more attention, one of the best hip hop albums of the year. Also has a great verse by 'Pill'. Favourite lines: "Mama think I'm strange, mary-jane, put a lot of evil thoughts in my brain, a lotta times might not be on that murder shit, hit me with the spinach, if youve got a problem with it you can tell that to my burner, bitch" and "Trickster (?) became a legend in the strip clubs, but i was big in the streets from fucking with some thugs, a hood rat's dream, a ghetto nigger's idol, we the champions in the streets, man, we hold the title" and "Cause I'm a pimp, not a gigolo, all about the figures, yo" Favourite tracks: Boxframe Cadillac, Sumthin' U Should Know w/ Devin The Dude, I'm the Man, Bussdown.

3.5 - Drone/Psychedelic Folk from France. The song 'Gorgon' is so fucking awesome, lots of standout moments though.
3.5 - Folk/World Music from China. I'm the only one to have rated this. It is a unique blend of contemporary folk and the native sounds of a Chinese shepherd's culture. Completely customary and natural sound.
|so u only have one album rated 4 stars from 2009 ?|
|sry.. thought this got the title of ur next one|
