| Mimsy's Underappreciated
Albums, that is. While I'm still working on my (no doubt) future maligned mainstream list, here are some albums that don't seem to get the love they need around here. | 1 | | Celeste Morte(s) Nee(s)
French screamo that has track names from hell.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album/52423/Celeste-Morte%28s%29-Nee%28s%29/ | 2 | | Nesseria Nesseria
BM influenced grindcore (also French, I believe). I've been whoring these guys out since last year, and a few users seem to have caught on. | 3 | | Plebeian Grandstand How Hate is hard To Define
Really chaotic metalcore. Heard these guys through a Throatruiner Records sampler (same with Nesseria).
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album/50080/Plebeian-Grandstand-How-Hate-is-Hard-to-Define/ | 4 | | Rikets All American Death Cult
Styles reviewed these guys a while back and I'm sorry I took so long to get around to listening. It's more Industrial metal than Nu, somewhat along the same lines as Dry Kill Logic's last album.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album/53571/Rikets-All-American-Death-Cult/ | 5 | | Ninjaspy Pi Nature
Freaking spastic music from three brothers (think ska meets grind). One of the more versatile vocalists around.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album/41883/Ninjaspy-Pi-Nature/ | 6 | | (sic)monic Somnambulist
Speaking of insane vocalists...This guy is a beast, if not for his execution, then simply for his range. | 7 | | Twelve Foot Ninja New Dawn
Another band I try to whore out as much as possible. This album really channels its inner Faith No More.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album/39277/Twelve-Foot-Ninja-New-Dawn/ | 8 | | Shaolin Death Squad Intelligent Design
And while we're on the topic of sword-wielding Asians...well, here are some white guys that play experimental metal and wear masks. | 9 | | Sydonia Given to Destroyers
Somewhat similar to the above, but with much less experimental material to be found. Try the song "Tongues" and decide from there.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album/29927/Sydonia-Given-To-Destroyers/ | 10 | | 40 Below Summer The Mourning After
Nu-metal that tries to steer away from the genre's cliches, and succeeds for the most part.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album/11842/40-Below-Summer-The-Mourning-After/ | 11 | | Anacrusis Screams and Whispers
Really awesome progressive thrash.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album/19584/Anacrusis-Screams-and-Whispers/ | 12 | | Believer Sanity Obscure
^^^ | 13 | | Bullets and Octane In the Mouth of the Young
Sweet punk-influenced hard rock with almost a hint of Americana thrown in here and there.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/10468/Bullets-And-Octane-In-the-Mouth-of-the-Young/ | 14 | | Eleventh He Reaches London Hollow Be My Name
Post-hardcoreish screamoish awesomeness that you should go get right now. Do it.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/33680/Eleventh-He-Reaches-London-Hollow-Be-My-Name/ | 15 | | Hum Downward is Heavenward
Really good alt rock, thanks to redsky for this one.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/14439/HUM-Downward-Is-Heavenward/ | 16 | | Hypno5e Des Deux l'une Est l'autre
Another awesome French band, this one a more progressive metal band. Words don't do them justice.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album/44689/Hypno5e-Des-Deux-lune-Est-lautre/ | 17 | | Minora Imago
A very solid alternative metal release. Thank you to bloc for one of many recs of great bands. | 18 | | Panzerballett Starke Stuecke
Jazz metal with influences from everywhere. They go from covering Smoke on the Water, to spastically (is that even a word?) shouting German, to Death metal segments. Not something that should be passed up. | 19 | | The Shizit The Shizit
digital hardcore of cors
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album/43342/The-Shizit-The-Shizit/ | 20 | | Unjust To Lose a Name
Another bloc rec, and like the last one this is really good alt metal. | 21 | | Woe of Tyrants Kingdom of Might
Melodic dm with a beast of a vocalist.
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/33878/Woe-Of-Tyrants-Kingdom-of-Might/ | 22 | | Schaliach Sonrise
More awesome melo death. This was previous band of the guitarist/singer for Extol. | |
