Sophmore Albums That Surpassed The Original

My last list of the week, figured do something a little more interesting; list of sophomore albums that have surpassed a band's first cd
1Streetlight Manifesto
Somewhere in the Between

If you haven't noticed, I'm obsessed with this album. It was hard to think that anything could live up to their first album, but I was beyond proved wrong when it came to every aspect; lyrics, tone, and horns
2 Nine Inch Nails
The Downward Sprial

Again, it's plain hard to leave out such a memorable album that really established NIN (or at least Trent Reznor) as an important part of music history
3Radiohead
The Bends

I'll say it, I didn't enjoy Pablo Honey, but The Bends is when I started digging in to Radiohead, and their albums only progressively got better. Their sophomore album though it when I really think they got a good kick start
4Muse
Origin of Symmetry

Yes, the band that everyone claims has ripped off every artist since Elvis Presley, Muse. I don't care though, they make good music, and their 2nd album blasts with originality, and killer riffs.
5Smashing Pumpkins
Siamese Dream

You can't deny...
6 A Perfect Circle
13th Step

I never really enjoy their first album, I thought A Perfect Circle was a horrible band, but then after a line-up change, I noticed something...they actually weren't bad at all, they just needed time to make better kick ass music!
7The Wall Flowers
Bringing Down the Horse

The hell with your thoughts! This was the 3rd cd I ever owned, still do, and it's an amazing cd, and never knew the singer was the son of Bob Dylan til much later. still amazing music
8Bush
Sixteen Stone

Though they went a little haywire towards the end of their career, Sixteen Stone is a good example of a band just rocking to the best of the abilities
9 M83
Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts

A very superior album compared to their first album, hypnotic and awing, glad to see a band progress w/o being corrupted by the corporal industry
10 Tool
Ænima

I'm not too much of a metal head, but this is just a damned good album, which I thought was incredible they could top Undertow
