|Scream It Like You Mean It Tour|
Last night I headed to Baltimore with my girlfriend to
see the Scream It
Like You Mean It tour. Some of the bands were
surprisingly good but
others were equally surprising in a bad way. Here's the
I occasionally listen to Silverstein and I've always thought they are a decent
band. I was actually excited to see them perform, but was slightly disappointed.
Maybe it was the fact that they were the last band of the night (they're the
headlining band) or maybe I just would have preferred different songs. All in all,
they ended the show well, but I had just hoped for more.
|2||We Came As Romans|
I had never listened to this band before last night and I was honestly really
surprised at what good performers they are. They had the crowd going
absolutely crazy through their entire performance. In their second to last song,
the vocalist said he wanted to see 150 crowd surfs in 4 minutes, and although
it wasn't 150, it was something to behold dozens of people constantly flowing
over the front railing. After seeing them last night, I'm convinced that they are
doing accessible metalcore the way bands like The Devil Wears Prada SHOULD
be doing it but aren't. Awesome pleasant surprise, this one...
I was looking most forward to Emery's performance. I've been slightly obsessed
with the band since they released In Shallow Seas We Sale. They put on a good,
high-energy show, but I wished they could have played more songs, most of
them being from In Shallow Seas... All in all, they were great.
|4||Dance Gavin Dance|
DGD was another surprise for me. I bought Downtown Battle Mountain back in
2007 and then quickly dropped it when I foolishly decided The Devil Wears
Prada were more talented and more "hardcore." However, after the
performance I saw last night, there's no doubt in my mind that DGD has a huge
amount of talent. Their guitarist is insane and the dual vocals between the
screamer and cleaner were awesome and perfectly cohesive. Now I feel the
need to buy all three of their records.
|5||Sky Eats Airplane|
I used to love SEA back when they first released Everything Perfect on the
Wrong Day. I lost interest after they put out their self-titled, as I thought it was
nothing true to the original band. Last night, they solidified themselves as a
band I never need to listen to again. Their vocalist is horrendous, their guitar-
playing was sloppy, and the synth that made them so interesting before was
inaudible. Oh, and the vocalists girlfriend looks like a hooker. My girlfriend and I
bumped into the two on our way out of the venue.
|6||I Set My Friends on Fire|
This was an okay band if you're taste is more upbeat post-hardcore, but
otherwise I didn't think they were so good. The vocalist kind of annoyed me. My
girlfriend said even his talking voice was shitty.
|8||Close to Home|
I had never heard of this band but I thought they were pretty good. They sort
of seem to be fitting into the cliche of metalcore bands, but as a show-opener,
they were alright.
|what is this|
|i wish this tour came to ohio. i would love to see emery and dgd again. |
|4 is the only band worth seeing|
|I like 1-5, i always thought the clean singer for 2 always sucked live, i'm sorry to hear about 5's performance.|
|DGD was definitely the height of the night's performances. Completely sick.|
|You think WCAR is good and SEA isn't!?|
WCAR lip syncs live dude. Check out videos, fake harmonies and everything. Fuck them.
|I remember this tour. You pretty much got the breakdown right. Kinda hated having to wait through ISMFOF and a few of the other shitty bands to see DGD and Emery.|
