| Nonreligious Vs Irreligious Metal
I enjoy metal to the extent of heavy, fast guitar work and harsh vocals.
However, I'm as indifferent to bands with a satanic message as I am to
those considered Christcore. In fact, I would say I'm more inclined to enjoy
a record like Underoath's Disambiguation because I can at least relate to
some of the issues covered in that record (drug abuse, faithlessness in
humanity, etc). However, I can't really get into a band when I know they're
singing about, oh, I don't know, eating rotting fetuses from a freshly
chainsawed gash of a uterus.
So, I guess what I'm asking for is band recs that's are maybe more neutral
in their content without sacrificing the heaviness in their music. Take
Converge, for instance. Jacob Bannon's vocals are animalistic and the
guitar work is hellish and chaotic. Despite that, or maybe in support of that,
the lyrics are more personalized to Bannon's own life than to any umbrella
ideologies and I respect that.
Rec me some metal that doesn't bash me over the head with a ridiculous
