admittedly, my state of Oklahoma is probably among the last.
"admittedly, my state of Oklahoma is probably among the last."
Considering Hinder is the only band that I know of that is from Oklahoma, you are diffenitly right. My home state of Wisconsin has produced the Violent Femmes and Garbage. Decent, but not good enough to match with the ones I listed
*lets out a ginormous yawn
we have PIG DESTROYER and ARGHOSLENT
and other cool bands
WOOO! CALI FOR THE WIN. Jersey and Florida need to be higher.
hell yea...georgia! we got shitty circle takes the square.. lilitu..mastodon...ummmm.... ummm.... lil jon and the eastside boyz...ludacris...ciara...lil scrappy.....young jeezy...ya i give up
Go Washington! Pretty darn accurate if you ask me. Good idea for a list.
I don't know where bands come from, but Mars Volta and At The Drive In are from Texas.
'Fez, say AMERICA'
'... ... AmeDICA'
'Ok Fez, say ERIC'
Now say, AMERICA'
... ... ... AMEDICA'
I'd probably put Massachusets higher..and maybe Florida too, they've got Kamelot.
Lousy Oregon, all we have is....Agalloch. and Falling Up.
care to give examples?
er, the flaming lips come from oklahoma to the first two comments. and they're pretty good.
Boston, Massachusetts gave us a few great bands. I can't think of any...man...oh!
Dropkick Murphys. And Godsmack.
That's all I can think of....
Anyways, Texas also gave the world Buddy Holly, ZZ Top, Willie Nelson, Pantera, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Fair To Midland, The Toadies...some good stuff!
Florida should be much higher, what Tampa's 80's death metal scene, Gainesville punk scene, not to mention other various famous bands for better or worse. Florida definetly has a leg up on a lot fo these, I need to make things right.
Actually, my state of Connecticut should be last. Connecticut blows. I agree on most of these, especially California and Georgia.
Tennessee should totally be on here. I mean, we gave the world Three 6 Mafia... uh, 10 Years, and... Whitechapel.
Okay, I'll stop now.
Boston has Killswitch, they are pretty good/were pretty good.
why isnt Texas #1
I mean we have At the Drive In
i'm from kentucky we have my morning jacket who can be pretty good and Flaw who are just ok. and that's pretty much it
Cynic alone should make Florida a little higher
what good bands have come out of georgia
I had just came up with a huge list of examples, but when I submited it, it was too long and didn't post. Let's just say I am not that happy right now!!!
circle takes the square, trophy scars, among others...
Umm.. Ok.. What bands are actually from ohio? I can think of Maybe N.I.N.. but thats it.
Kentucky also had Days of the new didn't they?
Laugh if you want to, but Florida also produced Skynyrd, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as well as a bunch of death metal bands..
What about DC Kyle? It only produced some of the greatest hardcore punk bands ever. Minor Threat and eventually Fugazi, Bad Brains AND Black Flag. But awesome idea for a list without a doubt. Oh and this is Neal, your roomie.
Marvelous 3, Butch Walker, Sevendust, John Mayer, Indigo Girls, Black Crowes, Collective Soul, Drivin N Cryin, all those rappers, Mastodon, Circle takes the square, Rehab, REM, The b52's, Norma Jean, Tons of Christian Metalcore like Norma Jean, Becoming the Archetype and such, classic rock like the GA Satellites, Widespread Panic, and Allman Bros, and crappy pop rock like Cartel and Evan and Jaron
Not bad for the state with the 9th largest population...
Florida should be much higher
I am thinking of doing a updated version of this, would anyone be interested?
Missouri has Chingy, what what, represent.
Florida = Cynic and Death.
Kinda surprised to find Michigan that high. Who all is from Michigan?
The Four Tops
Grand Funk Railroad
Insane Clown Pose
Tommy James & The Shondells
Martha and The Vandellas
Smokey Robinson & The Miracles
Diana Ross & The Supremes
Iggy Pop and The Stooges
The White Stripes
Florida has Gainesville: Aside from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, there's also the punk scene: Less Than Jake, Hot Water Music, Against Me!, etc.
Forgot Washington DC.
Maryland doesn't have shit...lemme see.
Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Frank Zappa, Periphery, All Time Low, Clutch.. uhh.. help anyone?
DC has the best bands in the universe
hell yeah NY
Yay Indy made the list...now if only I could think of a good band (actually any band) that came from here...Seriously could some one tell me what bands r from indiana
9 ftw bitches.
Next to each state you should list a few of the artists to come from each state in parenthesis, that way people can know and understand why you ranked the states the way you did.
Massachusetts beats all of this.
Fuck yeah! Per capita: WA=#1
Yeah, this needs to be redone
No, it doesn't.
Connecticut has Hatebreed, Michael Bolton and not much else.
"Considering Hinder is the only band that I know of that is from Oklahoma"
Wow you must be ashamed of your state.
PA the last few years, def
Michigan, Texas and Tennesee are mighty!
