My Top Albums For 2008.

This is my personal top 5 albums of 2008. I have gotten quite a mix of album's this year and I want to share my thoughts with the rest of the Sputnikmusic community.
1Cynic
Traced in Air

I got this album after hearing how everybody was loving it, I can understand now why this was. The atmosphere of the entire album is splendid and I have never heard anything like it. I hope future recordings from Cynic will be of this calibre and emotional magnitude. This is definately my favourite album of this year by far.
2Protest the Hero
Fortress

After their blistering debut "Kezia", Protest the Hero returned with an evolution of their style and creativity. This album is fast, entertaining and never gets old. Kezia was a great album, this is even better.
3The Fall of Troy
Phantom on the Horizon

I have been a fan of The Fall of Troy since their self titled album. After hearing the enchanting Ghostship Demos from 2004, I couldn't wait for this to be released and playing on my Walkman constantly. For one of the people that enjoyed Manipulator and respected what they were trying to do, this album is probably on the same level. Yes, it's only five tracks, but what you are getting are some finely crafted tracks with all the technicality and force that is The Fall of Troy. It's been getting mixed reception from the community, but I think it's great for what it is.
4Galneryus
Reincarnation

Japanese metal has started to influence my music taste with bands such as Sex Machineguns and X Japan leading the charge in my music collection. Galneryus has a very distinctive style and has made a really good metal album. This album may be a tad darker than their previous outings, but still get's a play now and again.
5The Mars Volta
The Bedlam in Goliath

I was skeptical about this album, but it's a very energetic and precise album. The Mars Volta are as flamboyant as they come, and it's a really fun and fresh album to listen to.
