BrandNewBoognish
11.02.09 | Yeah joshua tree isn't even their best album |
redskyformiles
11.02.09 | their only album that even comes close to it is Achtung Baby |
BrandNewBoognish
11.02.09 | achtung baby is mediocre and overrated |
redskyformiles
11.02.09 | do you ever get sick of being wrong? |
YouAreMySilence
11.02.09 | Joshua Tree is definatly their best. |
BrandNewBoognish
11.02.09 | yeah because not liking a boring, mediocre, overproduced album makes me wrong. Boy through to the unforgettable fire are the most interesting U2 albums. |
BrandNewBoognish
11.02.09 | And joshua tree is obviously great, but i'm too familiar with the songs now |
shindip
11.02.09 | none of them |

11.02.09 | No question, Achtung Baby. Its the album that converts most U2 haters into lovers. Joshua Tree is overrated. |
RobotFrank
11.02.09 | Singles 1980-1990 is probably the best starting point, really.
Or if you don't wanna go that route - Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby are comparable. Don't listen to the hipster U2 haters. It's so trendy to hate on U2.. Just stay away from their last 3 albums. Completely mediocre. |
RobotFrank
11.02.09 | War is probably their 3rd best. "New Years Day", "Two Hearts Beat as One", "Like a Song". Those are all great...
Joshua Tree is their most revered for a reason. non-single "Red Hill Mining Town": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytRekLUX3GE Stick it out for the chorus on that track.. |
AggravatedYeti
11.02.09 | War.
Just start from there. |
Inveigh
11.03.09 | War is definitely the BEST U2 album ever. The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby are right behind it; but nothing else compares. It has a much more new wavey, punky sound to it than anything they did afterwards. I would put them in this order:
War
The Joshua Tree
Achtung Baby
Boy
Pop
The Unforgettable Fire
October
Zooropa
I wouldn't bother with anything that came out after Pop, it's all pretty garbage (IMO). |
RobotFrank
11.04.09 | I might have to agree with Inveigh completely. If it weren't for listening to WAR when I was a young kid, I wouldn't have became a fan so early on. I would add Rattle & Hum to the list also, as the four singles written for that album are quite good. Great order on the list, and props for recognizing POP as the last real good album. |
scotish
11.04.09 | if not 3, get 'under a blood red sky'. it's amazing |
scotish
11.04.09 | by any standards actually, not just U2 |
