The Storm Of The Year
There is a storm right now outside that the news is saying is one of the biggest in a long time. There were also tornado warning just the other day and a couple that acually landed not that far out of town. Of course I have to make this about me, so this acually fits my musical taste quite well. I haven't made a list for awhile so this is a list of digs, things I've been meaning to check and such. Please reccomend good junk. |
1 | | Riceboy Sleeps Riceboy Sleeps
This is absolutly beautiful. So beautiful infact I might attempt to write a review for this but probably give up. Maybe up there with Mono and the Antlers as one of the best records of the year, I wouldn't be surprised with more listens if this becomes a classic. Indian Summer is just behind Everlasting Light in the song of the year category. |
2 | | Burzum Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
I am not much of a black metal fan or even a metal fan for that matter but since falling inlove with Wolves In The Throne's Two Hunters I have some interest in the genre. From what I have heard this sounds really good although the vocals are different. What other black metal is decent? |
3 | | Modest Mouse The Lonesome Crowded West
I have the The Moon & Antarctica and have been digging it great. Although it is definatly not the classic I heard it was it is still an excellent record with some great tunes. I heard this was their best, am I right in saying this? |
4 | | Eluvium Copia
Although this isn't the life changing classic many make it out to be, it is a fantastic piece of music. What is some other stuff like this and on a completly different note what instrument does one use to make music like this? Is it just a violin? Something on the computer? I say Sigur Ros in live video on youtube for the song Vaka and Jonsi was using this weird thing that seemed to carry the ambience in the song. |
5 | | Bon Iver Blood Bank
I bought this for $17 bucks and I kind of feel like an idioy but Vernon's voice called to me saying "Brandon buy this!" To just hear the acual produced version of the title track was about worth it. |
6 | | Pink Floyd Animals
I have never heard anything by Pink floyd which is idiotic so I need a place to start. I heard this was the best yes? |
7 | | Mono / Worlds End Girlfriend Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain
Two of post rock's biggest geniuses have collaborated to create a soundtrack of indescribable bleakness and beauty. The atmosphere is fragile, slow moving and subtle, only ever breaking out of its solacing dreariness twice, once in the middle and as it builds up towards the end. Like a story the record plays, being divided into five tracks which are more like chapters each keeping the same pace; track one creating an atmosphere, track two building only slightly from the first while track three comes to swell and break the silence, shattering the hope and gentleness set by the first two into a sense of depression and lose. Track four is accompanied by a distant and haunting voice with a slight sway to pick up the pieces of the devastation that has been brought by the third track and act as a bridge to one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written, the last track and the delicate and restrained yet glorious climax. Some consider this to be a dark and depressive piece and I disagree, this is a record of hope, a record showing a light in the dark, if you will. Mono and World?s End Girlfriend hone one of the most underrated attributes in music, restraint, and produce one of the beautiful soundtracks that I have had the privilege of hearing. |
8 | | Jeff Buckley Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk
Everybody Here Wants You explains my situation to like the tee. His voice is so gorgeuos he must have gotten laid sooo much. |
9 | | Rx Bandits Mandala
Anything higher than Hymn to the Immortal Wind for record of the year better be amazing. I've never given these guys a listen. |
10 | | Maybeshewill Sing The Word Hope In Four-Part Harmony
I heard one song from these guys and it was pretty great. Not really my style but I heard this is fantastic, is this worse a listen? |
11 | | Manic Street Preachers The Holy Bible
I heard on song and it wasn't that good. but apparently this is a lyrical masterpiece so I'll give the whole record a try I guess. |
12 | | maudlin of the Well Part The Second
I can't believe I haven't listened to this yet. I mean I wasn't a massive fan of Bath but they're a talented band and hey, it's free. |
13 | | Spires Flowers and Fireworks
I've only heard a song and it sounds really fantastic. Where can I download this for .zip file. |
14 | | P.O.S. Never Better
See 13. I need more rap thats acually intelligent. |
15 | | Regina Spektor Soviet Kitsch
I love Far and have only heard Samson from her older stuff but I hear this was classic. |
16 | | Mono One Step More And You Die
I downloaded this and have only listened to the first couple tracks and it sounds like the normal Mono amazingness. |
17 | | Stars Of The Lid And Their Refinement Of The Decline
I have this downloaded but I haven't had the patience to listen to this. I love the different opinuins of this. I need more ambient stuff, whats some good stuff? |
18 | | Dinosaur Jr. Farm
I'm getting my license here soon and I need driving music. I have yet to here this fully but it sounds like what I''m lookin for. I have You're Living All Over Me and it's amazing. Whats some good driving music? |
19 | | Low Things We Lost In The Fire
I heard that this is good ambient material aswell, am I right? |
20 | | Trespassers William Different Stars
I got the Gizeh Sampler and this label is becoming one of my favorites. I have really looking much into these guys, are they worth it? |
21 | | Oh Sleeper Son Of The Morning
I was worried but since the title track was released I am even more stocked. This is going to be amazing! |
