10 Badass Melodic Hardcore Albums

10 awesome [and underrated] albums in the vein of the elusive, enigmatic and dubious genre that is melodic hardcore.
1A Wilhelm Scream
Ruiner

It still blows me away every time I hear a track from the album. AWS's ability to synchronize every single musical element to create a technical, aggressive and meaningful album is something to behold.
2Good Riddance
Bound By Ties Of Blood And Affection

I've said this before on my review of the album, but this is, in my opinion, Good Riddances' most underrated release. Just listen to "Dylan"; I can't NOT sing along every time I hear it.
3 Lifetime
Jersey's Best Dancers

Of course I wouldn't leave Lifetime out of the list. This album is just flawless. Jersey's Best Dancers is a beautiful showcase of the genre as a whole. Cut The Tension is such an awesome track.
4Kid Dynamite
Shorter, Faster, Louder

Lifetime and Kid Dynamite pretty much walk hand in hand. With Mr. Dan Yemin connecting the two. This album is simply incredible. Tracks like Death & Taxes, Three's a Party and SOS give me an intellectual boner. Dan Yemin is the man.
5No Trigger
Canyoneer

This band deserves a lot more credit than what they're given. Their 2006 release, Canyoneer is just a solid, moving album. Buy it. Please.
6Gorilla Biscuits
Start Today

One of the grand daddies of it all. I got this album when I was 16, and I think that contributes to my love for this album, as well as the band itself. Songs like Forgotten and Things We Say are a testament that bands now-a-days have Gorilla Biscuits to thank.
7 Lipona
Atlas

Here's a band you have not heard of. I forgot where or how I heard them, but the second I did, I knew they were on the brink of something great. Go to their Myspace, and listen to The Citadel. You're gonna want to wear an extra pair of undies. Awesome album.
8Strike Anywhere
Exit English

I'm generally not a BIG fan of overtly political bands, but Strike Anywhere holds a place in my withered, black heart. Exit English is an incredibly moving, emotional and heavy album. The lyrics lack a little bit in my opinion, but the music itself speaks more to me (ahem, 'Til Days Shall Be No More, Fifth Estate, Infrared, New Architects). Dare I say it, it's one of my favorite albums of all time.
9 Anchors For Arms
Listen. React

Another band you haven't heard of. The vocals might take a little getting used to, but if and when you do, you'll fall in love. A very technical album, it's full of expertly timed starts, stops and interludes. Listen to Kingdom Came and Machines. It's great.
10Strung Out
Exile In Oblivion

Blueprint Of The Fall; need I say more? This might have been the first melodic hardcore album I got, and it set some high standards. According to iTunes, I've listen to Vampires 31 times. Wow.
