01.03.10 | music festivals aren't always about the music, it's more of an excuse to party with friends + thousands of other people, get trashed and have the best fucking time of your life.
oh, and you might see some sweet bands too. |

01.03.10 | It's an excuse to drink. Case in point, everyone I know who goes to see Dave Matthews Band go to get absolutely shit-faced. Most of them don't recall the concert at all or just don't care. Drinking was their number one priority and the concert was merely a means by which they could justify their actions. |

01.03.10 | Don't forget Phish concerts too, except instead of Beer and vodka they pack heroin and cocaine... |
ThePalaceOfWisdom
01.03.10 | So I'm right, people are lame. You could stay at home and drink with your friends instead of being an annoyance and in some cases a danger to people who come to see the bands. |

01.03.10 | Gotta think of it economically too, with tons of people their will be a lot of people 'free riding' drugs i.e. some rich faggots get $$$ from their parents and buy some shit before a show and they just share it with whoever they thinks cool there. I've been to so many concerts where just one guy snuck a fat blunt in and by the time it was finished 20-30 people had taken a hit from it. |

01.03.10 | That's like every concert in NZ that involves a local band, there's always a joint being passed around. Half the time it's the band's stash as well. |

01.03.10 | Concerts + Beer/Drugs go hand in hand. As Tombits said, it isn't just about the music, but it also about getting together with friends and having a good time. I usually don't get so drunk I can't remember anything, but I party. I mean, last year I went from Michigan in the US to Wacken 08 in Germany. Just because I thought I wouldn't get a chance to see At the Gates and Carcass. Well, fuck, I drank the shit out of Becks and rocked the fuck out. Made it one of my best times ever. |
ThePalaceOfWisdom
01.03.10 | But what I don't get is why do you need to be drunk to have fun? I mean, I don't drink when I'm listening to music at home. I see no reason to drink when it's live I want to enjoy the musical performance in a pure manner and I just can't get why you'd rather be drunk than sober if you're seeing some excellent bands put out great music. Doesn't make any sense to me. |

01.03.10 | Yeah, a high percentage of people associate music festivals with getting drunk, it's just part of the experience for them and goes hand in hand with everything else on offer.
I drink plenty but not enough to actually cause me to forget everything i've seen the previous day. Plus, when i drink i don't transform into a complete asshole that tries to pick fights with random people trying to watch the bands and trash other peoples possessions. It's people like this at festivals that should be fucking executed. |

01.03.10 | I agree Mr. Poopular. I hate those fuckers, they ruin for the others. Well, Palace, you, yourself doesn't have to drink that much or at all if you don't want to. I just chose to drink at shows because I love beer and music. But like I said, I don't drink to the point that I don't remember the show. I just like to have a good time and when I have a good time, beer tends to be involved. |
ThePalaceOfWisdom
01.03.10 | Well yeah it is more or less those sort of people. I mean last year at this same fest I saw thre bro-ish guys trying to beat up two girls. I guess my issue is that I really only drink at parties because well I'm bored and it makes things less boring and more sexy. I've just always felt it's insulting to the bands for people to be drunk to the point of falling over when all the entertainment they need is right in front of them. |
JWT155
01.03.10 | I've noticed that the majority of people who get a drunk at concerts were never really intrigued by the music their in the first place, just merely a fan of a song or 2 by one or some of the bands there. |
