08.17.11 | I'd like to help you, but I've kind of fallen into the same funk. I still listen to what I have and what people rec me, but I seem to have lost a lot of the drive to seek it out myself. :/
Lately, I've been digging Deep Mountains' self-titled and Black Twilight Circle's Odour of Dust and Rot (my boyfriend wouldn't stop playing this, so it's good I like it so much, hah), so maybe check those out, if you want black metal in the summer, haha. |

08.17.11 | whew, was worried this list was going to be about a girl.

Ray Lamontagne - Trouble,
Ben Harper - Burn to Shine,
Jamiroquai - The Return Of The Space Cowboy,
The Animals - The Best of The Animals,
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow,
The Moody Blues - Every Good Boy Deserves Favour |

08.17.11 | I was beginning to worry you didn't know about the "enter" key, veigh.
Thanks, I'll get on those. Though I already have the latest Zomby and it was good but nothing to cream about. I have the latest Submotion Orchestra but I still have to listen to it... part of me not caring that much about music anymore is having about 10 albums in my to-listen-to queue for some months now.
@Vesper: Thanks bro. And I'm a sucker for BM all year long so it's a good idea. Listen to Dev, if he's not drunk he can probably help you out as well.
@Tyr: Got some of those but since I don't wanna be lost forever I'll get the rest. Thanks mate. |

08.17.11 | if you're looking for some good black metal from this year check out Blut Aus Nord's newest |
Vesper
08.17.11 | Yeah, if you haven't heard any BTC stuff yet, it's pretty weird black metal, so it's interesting, at least.
I'll listen to Dev; even if he's drunk, his electronic recs are still better than those of most people I know, lol.
Swarms' Old Raves End was great, though - I recced it to my religion professor before I graduated, as she's the one who got me onto Burial, haha. |

08.17.11 | I do this a lot...and oddly enough, this site probably contributed to both the rise and fall of my music listening. What I have to do is find something that is simple, fun, that I can listen to and find enjoyable despite everyone else's opinion on it.
Or just accept the inevitable, and hope that something ignites your love of music again. Maybe all you need is a change of scenery, you know what I mean? Something that's nowhere in the neighborhood of what you listen to. With that in mind, listen to:
The Angelic Process - 'Weighing Souls With Sand' (something like this is very out-of-character for me personally, but I absolutely love it. Maybe it'll work for you)
Bob Dylan - 'Bringing It All Back Home' (something classic, very laid-back and both simple and complex at the same time)
Cocteau Twins - 'Heaven or Las Vegas' (dense-but-light-hearted-but-heavy-layered, beautiful music)
Johnny Cash - 'At Folsom Prison' (down-to-earth, nothing complicated at all but VERY enjoyable)
Ride - 'Nowhere' (just a catchy record)
Zero 7 - 'Simple Things' (very cool, very chill trip-hop) |

08.17.11 | A similar thing has happened to me lately. Cutting down on downloading random albums just because I had the time to do so has helped me appreciate listening to albums I really enjoy. I picked one band and listened to them for a month and I feel much better. |

08.17.11 | Dude, I haven't hardly listened to any music going on a year now. This happens to me from time to time, but never for this long of a stretch. |
Baphomet
08.17.11 | ^a year seems pretty excesive... did you go deaf or something?
@Eonblue: I listened to Frances the mute a long time ago and it didn't do anything for me. Maybe I'll give them another chance. Also, come december 21st 2012, I hope it's eon and blue as well.
@Edwin: Thing is, I never randomly dnld almbums. When I download something is cause I've done my homework and it SEEMS like something I'd like. Thanks though.
@Masochist: That seems fair enough. I'll get albums that aren't REALLY impossible for me to enjoy. I don't know how much of a good idea going out of character is... then again I mostly listen to metal, electronica, indie and pop sung by hot british chicks. So it might work like a charm.
@Hans: And you need rogaine. Get it? Cause you're old!
j/k, I love you. I can enjoy old school rock every now and then but it gets old quick and I start itching for something heavier. Unless it's AC/DC. Then i just want to murder a puppy. |
