2008: My Lightyear
Since I didn't do a best of 2008 list I figured what the hell, it's been 3 ryears and it should be rrpretty clear which albums would have made rthe cut. So.... yeah... |
| 30 | | The Out Circuit Pierce The Empire With A Sound |
| 29 | | OceanLab Sirens Of The Sea
Above & Beyond nailed it with this great trance release with a chill
atmosphere around it. |
| 28 | | Blacklisted Heavier Than Heaven, Lonelier Than God
Heaven is overwheight and God is a d-bag with no firends, apparently. |
| 27 | | Lights out Asia Eyes Like Brontide
I don't know what a Brontide is. But I do know Psiu! Puxa! is too good to
be true. |
| 26 | | Genghis Tron Board Up the House
Mathcore/grind/something somehting that is unique and quite enjoyable. |
| 25 | | Noah and the Whale Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down
Perfect album for when in love. So, to answer you question, yes. It is
extremely gay. |
| 24 | | Meshuggah obZen
Mindfuck right here |
| 23 | | Gang Gang Dance Saint Dymphna
Yeti was right. This really is great. |
| 22 | | Cut Copy In Ghost Colours
I dare you to find motherfuckers happier than these. |
| 21 | | Baroness First & Second |
| 20 | | Portugal. The Man Censored Colors
Keep releasing stuff every year guys. You've earned it. |
| 19 | | Sasha Invol2ver
Yup. Love this. |
| 18 | | Intronaut Prehistoricisms
The album that got me into post-metal just keeps getting better. |
| 17 | | Killing the Dream Fractures
Was this a great year for hardcore or what? |
| 16 | | Deerhunter Microcastle |
| 15 | | Cynic Traced in Air
Better than Focus. Suck it. |
| 14 | | Arghoslent Hornets of the Pogrom
Don't let the neo-nazi lyrics bother you. The riffs are good enough to forgive
them. |
| 13 | | The Carrier No Love Can Save Me
I know this is an EP. Now shut the fuck up and get it. |
| 12 | | Woods of Desolation Toward the Depths
Amazing. That is all. |
| 11 | | Coldworld Melancholie?
One of the best ambient/black metal releases ever. Sorry Burzum. |
| 10 | | deadmau5 Random Album Title
Even though I'm not a fan of minimal this is just too good to ignore. |
| 9 | | United Nations United Nations
With the guys that (allegedly) form this supergroup, is it any surprise that it
is so fucking good? |
| 8 | | Enslaved Vertebrae
Not as good as Isa. Still fucking good. |
| 7 | | In Mourning Shrouded Divine
These guys came out of nowhere to deliver an Opeth-esque outstanding
effort. 4.5 thumbs up. No, my paren't aren't related. |
| 6 | | Bon Iver For Emma, Forever Ago
If someone told me back in 2008 this musical genious would team up with
Kanye West I would have shot him in the crotch. Anyway, it might take a bit
to truly apreciate this album. And when you're done feeling a tad gay you'll
be rewarded with one hell of an experience. |
| 5 | | Have a Nice Life Deathconsciousness
Pretty hard to label this lo-fi piece of awesomeness. So I won't. Waiting for
Black Metal Records to Come in the Mail must be one of the best songs of
the year. |
| 4 | | Defeater Travels
Best hardcore album of all time? Probably. Though Ke$ha somewhat ruined
this for me since I can't help but think of her when the part of the bottle of
Jack comes up in Forgiver Forgetter. |
| 3 | | Akphaezya Anthology II:Links From the Dead Trinity
Bump 4 Maniac. I still can't figure why is it that so few people have checked
this amazing album so far. True progression. (sue me, Brandon) |
| 2 | | Telemetrik My Lightyear
Took some time to digest but it has become my 2nd favorite dnb album
ever. It also has one of my favorite songs of all time in it. |
| 1 | | Protest The Hero Fortress
Not as good as Kezia. Sure. Still better than everything else 2008 has to
offer. |
