Baph's 2010 Part III: The Omg-I-Love-You-in-the-Gayest-Way-Possible Albums

I finally bring you part III of my year-end list. The cream of the crop. rThe icing on the cake. The candy on the floor of the back of a van. My rtop 10. Enjoy, discuss, hate w/e. But if you know me at all, you saw rthis coming; no surprises here.

The Lady Killer

You didn't see this coming, did you? Quality wise it might not be as good as many as the albums that didn't make my top 10... but, maybe it's because of the moment of my life I'm going through (But love is a lie!!! Shut up, Slightly). This album just speaks to me. It makes me happy. It just flows. Listen to "Fuck You"... do you have a smile on your face? Yeah, I thought so.
9Agalloch
Marrow of the Spirit

The weakest of all their LPs, that much is true. But does that mean bad? No, not at all. To me, this album still delivers the Agalloch experience despite its gripes. And the Agalloch experience is not somehting you wanna miss.
8Parades
Foreign Tapes

Damm you DaveyBoy! I know you're reading this from your honeymoon vacation! This took a lot to grow into me but damm is it good. These aussies have created a unique indie rock album with surprises and variety in every song. Lyrics, instruments, vocals... everything in the album has a sense of harmony that few can achieve. Not bad for a debut, huh?
7Phace and Misanthrop
From Deep Space

Neurofunk. No, it is not a made up genre. It's what's for dinner. Also it's what these guys offer. Quite technical and while it's true the "raw-ness" suffers, the final result is amazing.
6Enslaved
Axioma Ethica Odini

The most accessible BM band ever strikes again with such a great album we should be already used to this. I said used, never tired of. While the quality remains there is room for surprises like the riffs in Giants songs that mix atmosphere with agression... this is just fucking great.

4x4=12

"But 4 times 4 equals 16!!!" Shut up, bloc. Zimmerman can do no wrong and he proves that again with this release. Much less minimal and a sprinkle of dubstep. Aside from a couple of painfully bad tracks and a poor choice in singers (fuck you Sofi), this is one of the best this year has to offer.
4Marina & The Diamonds
The Family Jewels

I love this woman so, so much. Her voice is like what an angel that went to Julliard sounds like. The music is catchy and the lyrics are great. Best pop release of 2010, no doubt about it. Now if I could only stop touching myself by the sheer thought of her...
3Orbs
Asleep Next to Science

Cheesy? Yes. The singer has the voice of a chipmunk? Yes. But it works. Oh my god it works. The instrumental execution is brilliant. The lyrics are quite interesting.. you know, the sort of lyrics that when you take the time to understand get you deeper into the song. Little Danny Briggs side project earns the 3rd spot by beeing awesome in the cheesiest way possible.
2Noisia
Split the Atom

What has become my favorite drumm & bass album of all time loses only by a nose to number 1. I have to say this is not your typical d'n'b, the music from the Dutch trio is outstanding. It works for a sweet rave party as well as for your iPod or mp3 player of choice (except Zune, lol Zune). I love this so much I would rec it to my own grandmother. And she's not Ruth Flowers.

It was a final sprint between this and Noisia. But I have to give it to the boys from Norway. Their blend from hardcore and black metal is not only unique but it works like a charm. No song feels like a filler, it's extremely accessible but it has meat for the hardcore/BM veterans to sink their teeth in. Album of the year for me, hands down.
