Top 10 Songs Of The Year
In the next few days I am going to do my albums of the year; a list much harder than this one. Before you guys get to see that, I have been keeping track of my favorite songs of the year as well. And well, here they are. |
| 1 | | Mutyumu Ilya
Prayer-This is definitely my favorite album of the year, and maybe it'll fade out one day. But before that horrendous thought may occur, Prayer charts my list as the best song released this year. It's like post-rock, but with a touch of more insane orchestral material. The little piano part during the climax makes me grin with happiness. |
| 2 | | Butch Walker Sycamore Meadows
ATL-This is one of the most gutwrenching and beautiful songs I have ever heard. I once went a whole hour and listening to nothing but this song. |
| 3 | | Equilibrium Sagas
Mana-This album overall has dropped down from it's unreachable pinnacle that I placed it a few months ago. Mana is still one of the best songs of the year though. 16 minutes of pure orchestral magic is still good enough for me. |
| 4 | | Trivium Shogun
Shogun-Blah blah blah, it's Trivium. I don't care what other people think, this selftitled track is 12 minutes of pure ownage. |
| 5 | | Rome Masse Mensch Material
Der Brandtaucher-The amount of people that have heard this makes me sad. One of the years best starts out with a kickass song. The tribal drums and the vocals are great. |
| 6 | | Meshuggah ObZen
Bleed-This song rules. Plain and simple |
| 7 | | Sabaton The Art of War
Ghost Division-Rommel would be proud of this song. The amazing keys to accompany the strong vocals make this a great song. |
| 8 | | Haggard Tales of Ithiria
Chapter III-La Terra Santa--Haggard released one of the best overall albums of the year, and La Terra Santa is my favorite song off of it. The peaceful baroque orchestration with the viking-eqsue vocals is a win win. |
| 9 | | Opeth Watershed
Hessain Peel-One of my early contenders for song of the year. I thought that no song would beat this one. Well 9 of them did and that truly shows how great this year was in music. |
| 10 | | Metallica Death Magnetic
All Nightmare Long-This is the only time Death Magnetic is going to show up from now on. It does contain the best Metallica song since One though. All Nightmare Long combines some awesome chain-saw guitars with the Maiden gallops and a catchy as hell chorus. |
