| Gamers: What Music Do You Play To?
I know we have a whole bunch of gamers on here, and not enough GOOD video game soundtracks. So what is it you listen to while executing your next raid, or mowing down innocent people in an airport, or rescuing the Princess AGAIN? Let us know! Here's mine. | 1 | | BT This Binary Universe | 2 | | Explosions In The Sky The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
I play EVE Online, which (for the uninformed) is an MMORP space-exploration game. In the tranquility of space, I like to listen to stuff that's soft and wordless, but still epic. Hence #'s 1 and 2. | 3 | | Celldweller Celldweller
This one's good for pretty much any high-action cyber-punk game, or any fast-paced racing game (the F-Zero series comes to mind). Also good for fighting games. | 4 | | Darude Before The Storm
Trackmania, the San Francisco Rush series, fucking Sonic R...I have yet to play a racing game that this album didn't go to. | 5 | | The Greyboy Allstars A Town Called Earth | 6 | | Thelonious Monk The Measure of Monk
I play SimCity 4 (or used to, anyways). A LOT. As awesome as the music for SC4 is, I'm always on the lookout for some outside works that fit in with the music already included. These two jazz albums work, as do half the songs ever included in "Hey, Arnold!" | 7 | | Devin Townsend Project Addicted
For any fighting game that doesn't take itself too seriously, like the Smash Bros. series, this is perfect. It's heavy, but it's really damn fun to listen to, so yeah. | 8 | | Simon and Garfunkel Bookends
Any first-person shooter. No, really. I had a friend play this while he was playing Wolfenstein on his PC (cheated so he couldn't die and had the best weapons), and it worked like "Mad World" for Gears of War. Imagine complete ownage of everyone to the sounds of "Hazy Shade of Winter" or "Mrs. Robinson"...yeah. | |

07.15.10 | So yeah...what do you play to? | DeafMetal
07.15.10 | Ambient, drone, doom, sludge. | Emim
07.15.10 | I usually just put heavier stuff on shuffle. Although Nothing Remains by Chimaira makes me a god at Zuma. | Yazz_Flute
07.15.10 | I'm not bit into video games but Monomate - Grand Battle would be perfect. I need to finish my review for it, the ones that are up already aren't very good. | Mr. Lizard
07.15.10 | Rust In Peace is the perfect compliment to FPS's | ButcheredChildren
07.16.10 | Modern Warfare 1&2, Left For Dead, Saints Row 2, Fallout 3:

07.16.10 | When I played Morrowind and Oblivion I listened to the classical shit I have. A little Mozart and Beethoven. | Prolapse
07.16.10 | anyone here think mw1 is better than mw2? | Masochist
07.16.10 | Never played any CoD except 4 and MW2, so I definitely can't comment on it.
Also have never tried listening to classical while playing RPG's...interesting. | GNGBNG
07.16.10 | i play to the music in the games
unless it's a sports game | Masochist
07.16.10 | I do that a lot, but sometimes I like to have other sounds there. Also, games like EVE and GTA and SC4 allow you to add your own sounds in addition to the in-game soundtrack. | Prolapse
07.16.10 | oooooooo | americanmusicmachine

07.16.10 | godspeed, NIN and Lagwagon | therayder

....PERFECT. | Dogget
07.16.10 | I listen only to the sounds of my opponents being crushed and thrown to the wayside by my awesome power and skill. | Masochist
07.16.10 | "I listen only to the sounds of my opponents being crushed and thrown to the wayside by my awesome power and skill."
Total silence, then?
I like the soundtrack for a lot of games, especially sports and extreme sports games. In fact, half the appeal for playing Tony Hawk is finding out what songs will be on it. | Quen
07.16.10 | Oh shit, lol. Personally I like 80's thrash or hardcore punk. | Dogget
07.16.10 | haha sometimes yeah. I usually just throw the whole library on shuffle or just listen to the game music, but back in the day I would play syphon filter 2 and listen to hybrid theory on repeat | Masochist
07.16.10 | Holy shit, Syphon Filter. THAT takes me back...damn. | Quen
07.16.10 | Syphon Filter lol...omg that game was fucking incredible. | Dogget
07.16.10 | Gabe fucking Logan. | Masochist
07.16.10 | Speaking of stuff that takes me back, I listened to Eminem's 'The Eminem Show' and Bad Religion's 'The Process of Belief' while playing that old-skool SNES game Troy Aikman Football.
In fact...I listened to 'The Eminem Show' while playing A LOT of things. Tony Hawk, Metal Gear Solid, whatever called for it. That was back the year it came out, at the height of my obsession with that guy's music. | GNGBNG
07.16.10 | why would you ruin MGS with eminem | Dogget
07.16.10 | I hear tony hawk and I think of that stupid 'fight like a brave' song by chilli peppers. Don't know which one it was on the soundtrack of but my god it used to annoy me | Masochist
07.16.10 | Because "Business" was one of my favorite songs to sneak around to. And besides, back then, I didn't have NEARLY as large a music collection as I do now. Nowadays, when I play MGS: Twin Snakes, I listen to...the game.
Oh...also used to pwn in Perfect Dark with Disturbed. "The Game" was awesome for busting heads.
And "Fight Like A Brave" is from THPS 3. I know, because as crazy as it sounds, THAT was the song that introduced me to the band. Song rules. | Masochist
07.16.10 | Bulldog - List 'em. What do you play? | KILL
07.16.10 | heavy stuff | GenNarain
07.16.10 | Fast for FPS's. Stuff like Arsis, Black Dahlia Murder, Abysmal Dawn, Obscura, Death for COD or GOW, and maybe some slower more atmospheric stuff for Fallout 3 or Oblivion | acADHDemy
07.16.10 | dragonforce for ssbm
devin townsend related works for TF2 and L4D

07.16.10 | also u cant listen to music while playing mgs... thats a sin. | Fapper
07.16.10 | What Meatplow and Couldwinarabbit said! The games I play have to have an immersible or at least legitimate soundtrack. | BringMeABrick
