Black Metal is the best genre ever. Start with bands like Dissection, Darkthrone, Burzum, or early Ulver.
i already own that album
the dethalbum that is
For black metal start with Dissection's Storm of the Light's Bane
For death metal theres Insomnium, Skyfire, Cryptopsy's None So Vile, Arch Enemy, Kalmah...
4 - Electronica - older experimental stuff, check out Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, even OMD. Newer stuff; wow there's loads, The Knife are rather cool ATM, Lemon Jelly are like Air, except more fun, and for more accessible poppy electro, you can always try Goldfrapp/Ladytron
4-Wu-Tang Clan Deltron 3030, Blackalicious, NWA are the ways to go.
2. usually pretty sweet
3. don't waste your time
Nice it seems the force is srong in you young padawan. Join the darkside...
Black Metal: Dissection- Storm of the lights bane.
Emperor- Anthems or In the Nightside Eclipse
Death Metal: Amon Amarth- With Oden on our side
Insomnium: Above the weeping world
Dark Tranquillity- The Gallery, Fiction, or Character
Skyfire: Mind Revolution or Spectral
Callenish Circle: Pitch.Black.Effects.
Do it bro, do itttt.
Ya Insomnium is probably my favorite Death Metal band.
The first death metal CD i got was Scar Symmetry's Pitch Black Progress, that was a good gateway into the genre and for black metal I listened to Satyricon's latest one then got steadily heavier. Might work for you. And add Public Enemy and El-P onto Fort23's list. Electronica = Daft Punk. Good luck with all that.
Take a gander at my top 50 list. All that you need to hear is found on there.
The Marshall Mathers LP for Hip Hop.
2. Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
4. I thought you were already into electronica?
5. Alias - The Other Side Of The Looking Glass
1. Anything pre 1992 basically
2. Anything from Europe basically
3. See me for a complete list
4. Don't bother
5. Don't bother
For Death metal, get Insomnium, Kalmah, maybe Amon Amarth too
For black metal, get SOTLB by Dissection first, best of the genre i'd say. Burzum, Emperor, and Enslaved are also fantastic.
Don't bother with grind.
1. Carcass - Heartwork
2. Listen to Crysis.
3. Fuck it.
4. Terrorfakt is pretty decent if you're into the "darker side" of this genre.
5. I'd have to roll with Busta and Talib.
Thom Yorke's solo album is pretty good Electronica, especially if you like Radiohead (and you do). I'd have to recommend Air above all, though, they're pretty tight. "Moon Safari" and "Talkie Walkie" are both great albums.
Now, for Death Metal, do you have any of Death's albums, perchance? "The Sound of Perseverance" is supposed to be quite excellent.
Terrorfakt sounds intriquing.
The Door Mouse
For a cool mix of 4 & 5 listen to Prefuse 73 or Fagan.
Death metal = Death, Cynic
Grindcore = The Number Twelve Looks Like You and Pig Destroyer
Death- Cynic, Gorguts
Black- Ulver duh
3. Not a fan, but early Carcass ruled.
4. Ladytron if you want a poppy introduction, Massive Attack
5. Chamillionaire for more mainstream stuff, Pharoah Monche for current "underground."
For a mix of both 4 and 5 that doesnt suck/is overrated, cLOUDDEAD is amazing, especially the self titled compilation.
I'd have to second Alias for 5. I saw him perform at the Bowery Ballroom and he had a fast pace and spacey beats from hell.
The Alias album I reviewed is really the only consistent thing he has though, except for the Double Irony ep.
Black Metal - Burzum, Emperor, Ulver, Darkthrone, Dissection, Enslaved, Windir
Death Metal - Cryptopsy (None So Vile), Death, Cynic
Grindcore - Never found anything enjoyable
4: ehh, shiny toy guns?
5: i'll have to go with Mr. John A. Hanson, Chamillionaire's new album owns face
im in the process of sampling this stuff now and getting some off soulseek
i mainly wanted some grindcore for the lulz
