Top 10 Metal Albums Of 2009

Saw the other list and thought i'd share my own take. When The Great Misdirect and Axe to Fall are released they will very, very likely be near the top of this list.
1Augury
Fragmentary Evidence

My top album of the year. Consistently excellent throughout, and a huge improvement over
"Concealed."
Though I would struggle to say Augury are completely original, I can't think of any other band that
really
sounds like them.
2Panopticon
Collapse

A highly successful marriage of unforgiving black metal and folk music which, unlike many other bands
that attempt the same, is not cheesy in the slightest. The two genres compliment eachother
remarkably.
3Ulcerate
Everything is Fire

One of the heaviest/densest fucking albums i've ever listened to. Technical/brutal death metal with
sludgy
production. Very trippy.
4Isis
Wavering Radiant

My personal favorite Isis album tbh.
5Hypocrisy
A Taste of Extreme Divinity

Hypocrisy really don't disappoint. Virus was more memorable as a whole, but this is still an incredible
relase. I'd rank it in their top 5 easily. "Global Domination" is a killer track.
6Gwynbleidd
Nostalgia

Has grown off of me since I first heard it, but this is some of the best progressive-death metal released
inside the United States.
7Fleshgod Apocalypse
Oracles

Brutal death metal mixed with elegant symphonies....works very well without being as cheesy as
say...Dimmu Borgir.
8Megadeth
Endgame

It's no Rust in Piece but it's a blast to listen to. As much of a bitch Dave Mustaine is this really is better
than Death Magnetic.
9Drudkh
Microcosmos

I've only heard one other Drudkh album besides this (Autumn Aurora) but this is definitely my favorite.
Solid atmospheric black metal.
10Conducting From the Grave
When Legends Become Dust

Ridiculously fun album to listen to. This is about as good as technical death metal(core) gets.
