Bands That Slayed At Scion Rock Fest
Actually got in due to shitty security.
I've seen them several times before, but this was still fun. Latest vocalist is kind of shitty though.
Never heard this band before until this. Female-fronted black/doom metal. BM screeches were kvlt as shit.
Captain Morgan's Revenge
I stopped by for this just for laughs but it actually ended up being ridiculously fun.
Without a doubt the best act that I saw the entire day. Started off with two fun straight up psych rock songs, then "Rainbow," and then ended it with some epic droner that I hadn't heard before. It was unbelievable.
Not as great as I thought it would be, but still good. The mixing was kind of retarded and the samples were just really gay but it still brought the mosh.
One of the bands that I wanted to see most for whatever reason. The band was tight as hell and they ended on Energy Chasms. Enuff said.
|7||Wolves in the Throne Room|
Came on right after Krallice and fucking slayed. I had to leave toward the end of their set to catch Neurosis though.
Given To The Rising
Excellent as always, but it was kind of hard for me to enjoy it as I had not had anything to eat or drink for 10 hours and had been standing for the entire duration of the fest. I felt like I was going to faint to say the least.
After some leftover Moe's tofu burritos that tasted like ass, I saw Mastodon. Played most of the classics and a little bit of the new stuff. I'll be seeing them again in a few weeks here in Birmingham.
The Unspoken King
Shouldn't really be on this list, because this was probably the worst/most hilarious thing I've ever seen. Everyone was just kind of standing around shitting themselves in confusion over how awful it was, like they hadn't listened to anything the band has done in the past decade.
did you not see Evil Army play? They are supposed to be awesome live.
10 ftw hahaha
Uhh....... can't belive I couldnt make it to this concert. 10 would have been quite entertaining. Also, new Wolves album slays hard, did they play anything off Black Cascade?
@ SoH: No, I missed Evil Army in the time that my friend and I weren't allowed in. We had to run in the entrance with a large crowd after like an hour of moping around outside. I wish I had seen them, though.
@Balls: They pretty much just played Two Hunters in its entirety.
sounds like the best concert in a LONG time man. Shit did you miss converge, and baroness too ?
A lot of awesome bands were playing overlapping schedules so I had to make hard decisions. I decided to see WitTR over Converge because I've seen Converge before and I just missed Baroness :
i would have saw harvey milk instead of pig destroyer
They're from Athens, GA, so they get around the southeast a bit.
i saw Salome when they opened for Wino. the girl was hot but scared me with that voice lol
would have killed to go :(
too bad i'm not 18...
I would have probably slapped Flo on stage though... Pig Destroyer must have been fucking sick.
So fucking jealous you Neurosis. FUCK!
