| Running my First 10k This Weekend
Pretty excited. It's across the Bay Bridge in Maryland, and while I'm not thrilled with the prospect of a nearly 2 mile-long hill to kick things off, still hoping to have a good time. List is recent digs. | 1 | | Julien Baker Sprained Ankle
Just saw her live with Kevin Devine earlier this week. Fantastic show. It was almost spooky quiet while she was performing--more so than the headliner, even--which is a testament to how hypnotic her set was. | 2 | | Pinegrove Cardinal
Played the same show. Also really, really solid. They were touring as a six-piece, and switched up some of the arrangements of their songs--not significantly, but enough so that it was pretty neat getting to hear the variations and not as though you were just playing the album. | 3 | | Kevin Devine Bubblegum
Haven't listened to Instigator yet, but have been spinning this one pretty regularly in preparation for the show. "Redbird" is my jam. | 4 | | Apologies, I Have None Pharmacie
Still need to listen to this a few more times, but a very solid slice of melodic post-whatever going on here. Definitely some Manchester Orchestra vibes. | 5 | | Jimmy Eat World Integrity Blues
Another one I've got to spend some more time with, but have been very pleasantly surprised by so far. It's not as though I'd written off latter-day Jimmy Eat World, since I dug Invented quite a bit--mainly on the merits of its title track, admittedly--but Damage really did nothing for me, to the point that I can't hum a single melody off that record. Thankfully, so far this feels like a substantial--if perhaps a bit overlong--course correction. | 6 | | Dance Gavin Dance Instant Gratification
Mothership made me hungry for more syrupy earworms dressed up vaguely as post-hardcore (and I mean that in the most loving way one can). Those "Uh-oh"s in the background during "On the Run," tho... | 7 | | Johann Johannsson Orphée
I've listened to this album while falling asleep pretty regularly for the past couple of weeks, so this is a highly qualified dig, in that I absolutely love the first half, and still have no idea what the second sounds like. Which, in its own way, can definitely still be a feature rather than a bug. Nonetheless, looking forward to giving it a whirl when I'm not already about to drift off. | |

11.03.16 | good luck man. Did my first recently as well, good fun, fantastic atmosphere | AsleepInTheBack
11.03.16 | also hell yes for 1, beautiful record. envious you got to see her live | thecheatisnotdead
11.03.16 | Thanks! And yeah, she definitely pulls off the translation from record to live extremely well (and played a couple new tunes, to boot). If she comes to your neck of the woods, make it a point to see her. | TheTripP
11.03.16 | enjoy and good luck! | SandwichBubble
11.03.16 | Do well. Don't dehydrate. Stretch. | guitarded_chuck
11.03.16 | nice
I miss running but I fucked my knee playing football so all that repetitive low impact hard surface contact isn't good for it, have to stick the lifting | thecheatisnotdead
11.03.16 | Oof, that sounds rough. Good to hear you're still able to get the exercise in, though. I had ambitious plans to cross train between the 10k prep and strength exercises, but that ended up scratched off the list pretty swiftly. Womp. | TheTripP
11.03.16 | @guitarded_chuck that's gonna suck when the zombie apocalypse happens and you can't run | Joeman82
11.03.16 | Get it, On the Run... 10k... Yeah I'll stop, but On the Run is my fav from that album. Anyway, best of luck to you man! | Drummerboy123
11.03.16 | Just started running, hoping to reach 10K by the end of the year! | Drummerboy123
11.03.16 | You have to build up to a marathon, takes months of practice, even years for some. If you're expecting to just get out of the house and run for 26 miles non-stop with no prior running experience you ain't even gonna make it 5K. | Snide
11.03.16 | Hey congratulations! I doubt I'd be able to do a 10k, I'm woefully out of shape right now. I wish you the best! | Drummerboy123

Motivated me to start. Been doing it a few weeks now, definitely feeling the benefits. | Rastapunk
11.03.16 | Good luck mate! Ran my first 21K (1100m uphill) a few weeks ago. Are you planning on running or trail running?
My goal for next year is 30K and at least 2000m uphill but I'd love to complete a 3000m elevation. | thecheatisnotdead
11.04.16 | I'd like to do more trail running, honestly, but living and working in a city, most of what I've done has been relatively level and paved over. Definitely hope to keep and mix it up after the race, though. | uhh
11.04.16 | sweet man I can barely run a mile without keeling over, hope you fare well |
