So, Sinister...

...was pretty disappointing. Way too much build-up (which I can sometimes accept) with way too little payoff (which I can't). Ethan Hawke was dependably good, Ziggy from The Wire made the most of his cookie- cutter comic relief role, and there were some decent jolts, but overall, not nearly as effective as it could have been.
1Devin Townsend Project
Epicloud

Digses. "Save Our Now" and "Hold On" make me sad that I missed his most recent
concert nearby.
2Coheed and Cambria
The Afterman: Ascension

Although I still like YotBR more than most, I'll whole-heartedly agree that this is a
major step up.
3Murder by Death
Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon

A friend of mine called this "their happy album." Pretty accurate, save for that first
track. Shit's spookier than Sinister.
4Bloc Party
Four

This has grown on me a lot. "Weekend"s still easily their best, but this album's no
slouch.

Send Us a Signal

An oldie (well, comparatively), but a serious goodie. One of those albums where I
find myself singing along with songs that I didn't even remember remembering.

6Hammock
Departure Songs

Sometimes, I fret for post-rock. Then, Hammock puts out another album.
