Superb Doom Metal Albums
Some of my favorite doom metal albums.
Dance of December Souls
One of my all time favorite albums, Dance of December Souls is a punishing and treacherous album and you will feel every ounce of pain shown by the band, Jonas's vocals are amazing and the music is incredible.
One of the most epic albums out there... period. Candlemass take their signature sound found in their debut and take it to the next level, better riffs, and more amazing songs all throughout, also Messiah is an awesome vocalist.

Lords of Hypocrisy
A somewhat under appreciated band, although they take sounds forged by bands like Black Sabbath and Witchfinder General and make it even better. Extremely epic is way you could describe this album, the concept only further pushes this amazing album. The guitar work is quite flawless and the music is consistently incredible, although the vocals will irk some people this is an essential doom album.
Call of the Wretched Sea
Easily my favorite funeral doom album, slow, pounding and punishing, the songs although to some may seem boring are journeys in themselves, the whole album has a superb atmosphere that makes you think of the sea, just like it intends to.
Let Battle Commence
Epic doom metal mixed with viking metal? Sounds damn good to me, and it is. This album has some seriously great riffs all throughout, and the vocals are also awesome.
Songs of Moors and Misty Fields
Easily the best of the Empyrium metal material, here we have doom metal with a very large amount of folk influence. All in all this release is very atmospheric with great vocals and musicianship overall, Empryium can do no wrong.
|7|| ||Witchfinder General|
Like Pagan Altar these fellows are also very influenced by the likes of Black Sabbath, and they are some seriously awesome traditional doom metal. Very good riffs all throughout, the songs are extremely memorable, my only real bad complaint is that the album is only 30 minutes long.
Portrait of a Dream
Another fantastic funeral doom album, this one uses lots of soft haunting keyboards all throughout to create eerie haunting atmospheres, the music is all very slow as is the tradition in funeral doom yet it is digestible and very good.

The Deafening Twighlight
Awesome instrumental doom metal that doesn't drag too much.
Another great funeral doom album released this year, very heavy and really great all around.
1,2,5,8, and 10 are great.
8 is fuckin awesome, 10 is pretty good, and 1 is alright. That's all I've heard from here really, besides bits and pieces from 4.
If 6 is their best album that's a shame. I thought it was really fucking boring.
Angmar, you should check out Ataraxie, Shape of Despair and Mourning Beloveth. I really want to get that new Worship album, I've been told it's much better than earlier Worship.
Thor 6 is not their best album it's their best metal album ;)
And thanks for the rec's Reznor, I really need to go deeper into this genre :)
I forgot I have 4-6 but haven't listened to them yet.
The Door Mouse
Angmar, I would totally have you hook me up with links right now but I gotta wait till my good computer works again
I didn't even know Empyrium had any metal. I love Where at Night the Wood Grouse Plays though.
I need to pick up one or two of these (starting with 4 and 10). Nice to see Pagan Altar on here - though they are pretty upbeat. Nightfall is essential traditional doom. Also what Reznor said: Shape of Despair and Mourning Beloveth are ruling my soul at the moment.
also skepticism and evoken
IDK I just call Pagan Altar doom because everyone else seems to haha.
no my dying bride?
8 and 10 are truely depressive ...great picks dude , The second track of 1000 funeral's album makes me want to die!
Havent heard 3,5,9
love the others
I m just 3 years late !
