|Surprises + Disappointments Of 2008 So Far|
Self explanatory, list is divided in half.
Viva La Vida
I knew it'd probably be better than X & Y, but didn't think it would be so good and trump everything they've done so far.
I didn't even expect much from this, but they made an album fairly comparable to early efforts (including quality).
|3||Children of Bodom|
Not good, but not really that bad either. If nothing else, it made me think I'll love their early albums.
Only a surprise because I thought the producer and unusually brief time between their last album would make it underwhelming. Quite the opposite.
|5||All That Remains|
Former Trivium producer Jason Suecof makes Phil's vocals weak and emotionless while helping them make a bunch of b-side material.
Twilight of the Thunder God
Boring and completely forgettable. Despite all the hype and being a fairly big fan of melodeath, I'll stick to Dark Tranquillity instead.
|7|| ||Heaven Shall Burn|
Iconoclast (Part 1:The Final Resistance)
"Endzeit" had me expecting a much better album, but besides that and "Black Tears" the album wasn't very interesting.
For some reason I thought they'd make a significantly better album.
|eh. Coldplay and CoB were pretty bad, and Death Magnetic was only okay. Anberlin is fantastic though. I also think Twilight of the Thunder God was pretty good.|
|Completely agree with 5,6, and 7 although I expected HSB to put out a quality album. 4 didn't strike a chord with me unfortunately.|
|I agree with 1 and 2.|
|i really like 7 tbh. met my expectations definitely, Endzeit does have a sense of epic-ness that's not present in a good majority of the songs|
|i love you for 6 and its comment|
|I enjoy 7. *shrug* I agree with 1, 4, and 5.|
|I agree with 1,2,3,4,5 but a HELL NO to 6.|
