Covers Of Paint It Black Ranked

"Paint It Black" by the Rolling Stones is one of those songs that defined a movement in rock 'n roll. It's sheer raw rock at its finest. The cultural impact has spanned for over 4 decades through out movies, television and inspired many cover songs with all different types of interpretations. Here is a quick list of 9 examples of different styles of variation (both the good and the bad) of this beloved classic.
1Gob
Paint It Black

I personally believe Gob, a group of Canadian pop-punkers, did the best job at incorporating the song to a modern rock level. It's hard and fast, and true to the original.
2U2
Paint It Black

Released as a b-side in the 90's, U2 does a great job at making it their own. Quite mellow and makes for a great listen.
3Helloween
Paint It Black

Covered as a power metal song, it's quite accessible to any fans of the genre.
4The Black Dahila Murder
Paint It Black

GARAHHHAHHH. Highly intense melodic death cover. Completely all over the pace with high tempos, and pretty fun to listen to.
5The Unseen
Paint It Black

Done in the hardcore punk band's traditional style. Not perfect, but worthy of a good circle pit.
6The Tea Party
Paint It Black

Pretty straight forward rock cover with a blues touch. It's worth getting a listen to, but doesn't do much to stand out.
7Vanessa Carelton
Paint It Black

It just doesn't work as a pop cover. Vanessa Carelton is good at what she does when it comes to her music, but this is a wrong song choice for her.
8The Agony Scene
Paint It Black

I do give props to how the song is put together, but those horrific vocals makes me want to cry. Has a left over taste of the "scene." Ick.
9Deadsy
Paint It Black

A fine reminder on how bad the early 2000's nu-metal explosion was.
