i actually just got 1 thanks to Atru, but i have been listening to their myspace songs since the review for it .
so rec away!
whatever you do don't listen to maps and atlases
wtf is math rock?
don cab man
ghosts and vodka - addicts and drunks
Minus The Flair
I've been digging Sorry No Ferrari quite hard lately, kinda like Piglet but a lot smoother. Not so many memorable hooks but still pretty cool.
I'm not really sure what Math Rock is, so I can't tell if it is an accurate list or not, but its worth checking out some of the bands I guess
Give me Damiera a shot...they're sort of mathy. And looked up Ether on myspace, they're some great math rock stuff. And of course you already know Dillinger...I'm assuming.
canvas solaris are ok.
i already dont like Maps and Atlases chan.
atru: ill check some earlier Don Cab since i know the newer stuff isnt that good.
charles: ill check them out :)
MtF: ill check them out too :)
mutatedfreak: ill take a gander at that list
vicarious: ive listened to some Damiera before and didnt like his last album, but Music i still need to hear
sickofantsid: theyre not math rocl
bodom: ive heard some Tera Melos but it didnt really stick with me but ill give them another shot
thanks everyone so far!
just go into the genre report nick did and copy all those bands down
Sleeping People are pretty cool, but you already have them :X
MAPS AND ATLASES
Also Rumah Sakit, Giraffes? Giraffes!,
Definitely get Don Cab II and American Don, and Tera Melos if you don't already have that.
I forayed into math rock a little while back as well, so here's some stuff I liked:
Hella (a bit dense, but still worth looking into IMO)
June of 44 (post-hardcore leaning, along with Faraquet)
Planets (see NorCal list)
Adebisi Shank (I know you already have their full-length, but try looking into their EP as well as they are of similarly high quality)
Tera Melos (I recommend giving Drugs to the Dear Youth a try if you haven't already. If '40 Rods to the Hog's Head' isn't good for what ails you, then you can effectively ignore anything else they've done.)
and Maps and Atlases suck. hard.
i dont like Hella that much but ill give them another shot.
i meant to get into Giraffes? Giraffes! but i forgot about them, thanks.
ill be checking out Rumah Sakit, Faraquet, June of 44, Planets
1 - 4 are my favorites. I'll say Rumah Sakit is a good rec and also Tera Melos.
The 90 Day Men
and all the other stuff people have been saying.
hey dude do you teach math or what?
Isn't Spiderland the classic Math Rock album?
im a math major, studying to be a math teacher in high school
Great list you already have! I would recommend the following bands:
1. Shellac, every album is great!
2. Don caballero, if you likes battles, I think you will like don cab as well!
3. Drive like jehu - more post-hardcore, but yank crime is great album, as well as every at the drive in full lenght, but its more post-hardcore music.
no thank you ill just hog it to myslef
