tectactoe 07.18.16	2007 twice, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2016. Last two times were slightly disappointing set list choices (just due to similarity to previous shows) but they still play their hearts out each night.

tectactoe 07.18.16	yeah, I first got into them a little after Deja came out, late 2003. I remember vividly playing GTA: Vice City in my room while listening to that record. I hope for your sake, they play Luca. IMO, it's probably the best song they do live. Chills every time.
Feather 07.18.16	I've seen em 3 or 4 times and tbh, their not one of my favorite live bands :/ they are still one of my favorite bands of all time, but imo their live shows are lacking

I refuse to treat OoR as a real song until we can get a better recording. Mixtape & Degausser are also good but just outside the Top 25. You'll never make everyone happy. Luckily I don't give a fuck.
tectactoe 07.18.16	"and why no degausser?" I do like Degausser. A lot. It's just that I like at least 25 songs more. "#ThisListNeedsJesus" I new you'd come here to say that :) Again, I really do love both Jesus & Tommy Gun (& Sic Transit). But they all suffer from being the first songs I fell in love with when their respective albums came out, and I kind of burned out on them. I mean, I still listen to them regularly, and enjoy the hell out of them, but time has uncovered a more deep-seeded love for the other songs on those records, and that has withstood the test of time more-so for me. It's not that I don't like Jesus or Tommy Gun, I just think BN has 25+ better songs. And that's saying something. Part of the reason I love these guys.

And that's not a knock on Degausser (for fucks sake TD&G is one of my only 5/5's), it's a testament to how good the other songs are. And Degausser is far from their undisputed best song. That's not even close to true. I've seen way more people praise Limo, Nobody Moves, Noro, or Play Crack, tbh.

I think In A Jar is underrated big-time. It's in the upper-half of Daisy for me, I'd say. Just didn't make the top 20 cut.

tectactoe 06.05.19	Whew update for the first time in nearly three years! Still not at all confident with any of this list because I love all of these goddamn songs but here's my best shot.
butt. 06.05.19	shit, just reading that line from Lit Me Up made me want to relisten to the whole album. Also, you messed up your choice for the Same Logic lyrics! Should have gone with the "Boy, we gave you every opportunity" lines at the end
tectactoe 06.06.19	Could've chosen a few others for SAME LOGIC, too. The chorus might be my favorite, honestly. The way "same logic" is kind of used as both a line ender and beginner, evoking the whole circular meaning thing.

tectactoe 06.06.19	@Sowing, haha Three years later and you haven't changed :) I really do like JESUS CHRIST, I swear, and I understand at this point it's pretty much the ubiquitous "Brand New" song. The one that you'd use to introduce people to the band (god I remember when SIC TRANSIT GLORIA used to be "that" song) and it really is a good summation of everything they are, I guess. I dunno, maybe I'm a little burnt out on it? At least, relative to the rest of their catalog anyway. I remember I got TD&G as a Christmas gift from my mom. So, like, a month after it came out. And JESUS was easily the song I listened to the most, because it was one of the only songs where I wasn't immediately like "the fuck am I listening to? This is nothing like Deja!" and it had something of the Brand New I recognized. As I inevitably acquired a taste for TD&G (which would now rank in my favorite albums of all time, easily), JESUS kind of receded to the back of the pile during that transition. It's still integral to the album as a whole, and in the context of music itself it's an amazing song, but I suppose the "growers" are the ones that have stayed with me the most over time. Same thing kind of happened with e.g. TOMMY GUN and SIC TRANSIT GLORIA. Those were my Deja go-tos when I first started listening to it. Nowadays I still love those songs dearly, but tend to favor things like PLAY CRACK THE SKY, GOOD TO KNOW, JAWS THEME, etc., which, funny enough, were the songs I didn't care for much when I first popped in Deja. I have a strange relationship to music.

Sowing 06.06.19	Everyone's experiences are different tec, and that's what shapes tastes. For me, I was immediately floored by TDAG in its entirety and has no trouble transitioning from Deja. To me, it was immediately an improvement in both sound and lyrics. The lyrics make Jesus what it is to me. It's truly something special. I had so many mini-revelations listening to that track...I remember when I realized that it was actually an open letter from him to god. It's a pretty easy thing to realize once you've listened to it more than once. Then the lyrics really took hold and there was no looking back.
tectactoe 06.07.19	Good point, and I'm just ribbing you :) I know how much you love JESUS CHRIST. And though it didn't make this particular Top 25 list, JESUS is probably in the upper-echelon of songs I love hearing them play live. (Along with YOU WON'T KNOW and LUCA.)
