09.26.17 | Well if you don't mind non-fiction then Danger's Hour by Maxwell Taylor Kennedy is one of my favorite books of all time and one of the best historic account books in general. |

09.26.17 | For some awesome nonfiction:
In the Blink of an Eye by Walter Murch. excellent, clear, non-challenging/not overtly technical exploration of film by a master film editor/longtime collaborator of Francis Ford Coppola.
The White Album by Joan Didion. A collection of articles/essays by all-star 60's cultural journalist. Brilliant stuff. |
Toad
09.26.17 | Also I always recommend Flannery O'Conner's A Good Man is Hard to Find (short story collection). That stuff is haunting and timeless.
For a novel, take a look at Grendel by John Gardener. A really accessible postmodern novel that views Beowulf from the monster's perspective and makes nihilism really lively, personal and accessible. A really fun, engaging read in spite of its content. |
Hawks
09.26.17 | Pots recommended Oryx and Crake to me a while back and it's amazing so I highly recommend that one. Post apocalyptic fiction type of book if that sounds interesting to you. |
DarkSideOfLucca
09.26.17 | Been jamming 5 and 6 a lot, actually.
I haven't read any noteworthy fiction in a while, but "Washington's Farewell: The Founding Father's Warning to Future Generations" and "Black Flags" were both very interesting reads if you're in the mood for something a bit more serious. |
DarkSideOfLucca
09.26.17 | Dune is the best sci-fi of all time, but everyone already knew that. |
Astral Abortis
09.26.17 | new John le Carre novel is out. I have a copy but I haven't read it yet. If you like spy novels I'd highly recommend most of his classics, especially Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy or The Spy Who Came In from the Cold |
