I think the trailer looks interesting, it doesn't really give away too much but shows the basic idea behind how the Death Note works in case anyone hasn't seen the anime. It's interesting the criticism of a white Light and a black L and how they "need" to be Asian and not black. It's possible this will be a letdown, but going into it with a closed mind will surely ruin it. |

03.25.17 | My gf and I watched Death Note for the first time a few months ago. I really didn't like it. Light Yagami is a cunt. I don't mind following a psychopath main character if they're interesting but he's really not.
Also two-thirds of the way into the show when Near is introduced, they stumble around until the end seemingly having no idea what they're doing or how to create tension (maybe a problem in the manga as well, I dunno). The last episode is really good though, but it's too bad a majority of the show is just not interesting at all.
If I want the "questionably bad main character with super duper deductive out-thinking skills doing evil things for the greater good" thing done well, I'll just watch Code Geass again. |

It's been like a decade since I read the manga/watched the anime and I apparently completely forgot they excluded it from the show and there was no epilogue. |
