the reason i got into ASMR wasn't because i stumbled across it or was sent a link, rather because the "tingling" sensation people talk about was something i always used to get whenever i'd visit a doctor as a kid. i made an effort to find out what that was a few years back, stumbled across a quirkology video called "The Seance", and went from there. totally get people not understanding it, it is a frickin weird community

assuming so long as whatever you listen to has some sort of instrumentation to keep you occupied? been listening to mount eerie's live in copenhagen upon reading your review on it and the quiet and intimacy was considerably more impactful to me than the louder and (if you will) more musical passages of the recording. that all being said, comparing some chick with a microphone and too much spare time to such a recording is probably sin in some contexts |

03.12.17 | The quietness of that Mount Eerie recording isn't much the same because it's not based so heavily on close contact recording. I enjoy spacious quiet sounds like ambient, EAI and even lowercase and field recordings, but anything that amplifies ugly sounds of silence in life makes me unreasonably angry. I have music on constantly, or TV, movies, podcasts, Youtube videos, conversation, etc.

yea that all makes sense. there is some stunning stuff in the field recordings sphere. just never found anything outside of asmr that replicates the sensation. i'd probably hate it just as much if it weren't for that. |
