pitch shifted hip hop

The albums on this list use pitch-shifted vocals through their entirety. Only one album per artist.
1Quasimoto
The Unseen

Madlib’s squeaky alter ego. This debut record from 2000 is his magnum opus and the best introduction to this eccentric character. Funny rhymes and storytelling over some neck-breaking production.
2Lil Ugly Mane
MISTA THUG ISOLATION

Muddy production, ruthless lyrics, and a southern pitched down voice. Lil Ugly Mane is unconventional and likes to experiment constantly. But compared to his other projects, this album has a more traditional hip-hop sound, making it more accessible.
3Captain Murphy
Duality

Flying Lotus’ villainous persona. FlyLo’s core vocals are devilishly low with higher pitches sporadically chiming in throughout. Complete with samples featuring cult leader speeches, references to dark magic, and psychedelic production. This is a very trippy, eerie album.
4Mac Miller
DELUSIONAL THOMAS

The most disturbing record on this list. Unsettling, demonic lyrics by Mac Miller on helium over truly creepy, alienating production. A fitting release for Halloween of 2013.
5NoEmotion GoldMask
Jungle Fever 5000

Deep voice modulation. NoEmotion is undoubtedly one of the most unpredictable rappers around. Every line on here is quotable. Most are hilarious while others are oddly deep. It will take time though for new listeners’ ears to adapt to NoEmotion’s off-kilter flow. Boom-bap sample-based production by Justincredible.
6Spark Master Tape
Silhouette of a Sunkken City

Spark Master Tape alters his voice down very low, making it sometimes incomprehensible. Ridiculous, over-the-top song topics give this album a more comedic feel overall. Fun, catchy flows and easy to listen to. Paper Platoon covering the trap-flavored production.
7Mr. Yote
The Terrible Tales of Scurvy Jones

The uncontested champion of pirate rap. Mr. Yote shows off his storytelling skills through lyrics dense with pirate terminology and outlandish sound production.
