Game Of Thrones Marathon Part 1

We're finally giving in and attempting to watch Game Of Thrones. I've literally gone my entire life without HBO so I have no excuse other than being incredibly late to the party on this. Jenna has seen some episodes with her friends so we'll be going into it with some spoiled points but I'll promise my thoughts will be SPOILER FREE, just in case I'm not the only person whose been hiding under a rock. I'll try to update with a new list as we keep watching.

Thank Me Later

A mixed first season that didn't hook me at all. I enjoyed the overall effort spend on developing each character (especially when it comes to later seasons), but the constantly sudden changes from one subplot to another became aggravating almost immediately. They seemed to always cut away either too soon or hang on the scene way too long. Additionally, hearing the hype prior to watching this show, some of the "Fan-favorite" characters turned out to be the weakest in this season for me. Maybe on repeat watches I could find more value in each episode knowing where it's eventually going but there's no disputing that this was a disappointing start.

Wow. This is what I call a complete 180. As a whole, Season 2 is far superior to Season 1. I still wouldn't give characters like Daenerys Targaryen (obnoxious) or John Snow (idiot) a pass but I was surprised how consistent and engaging this season turned out to be. More over, the plot feels tighter and more connected. You can anticipate where the various characters might be planning their next move with each new recurring event that takes place as each episode rounds to it's conclusion. And holy fuck; The last 3 episodes of this season had me so goddamn tense that I had to watch them in succession, completely forgetting to preparing food to eat for dinner that night. I can accurately say I've had my "If you aren't watching this, you should be" moment.
