2017 Musical Expectations

We're rolling straight into a brand new year, one that will no doubt bring forth plenty of strong releases from known and unknown artists. Here are some albums that are confirmed to release this year, might be released this year, or are just pure speculation.
1Neck of the Woods
Neck of the Woods EP

[Metalcore]
A full-length is in the works, which will hopefully see the light of day in the new year. Their EP shows a lot of promise and I can't wait to hear more of their work.
2Tanooki Suit
Vaati and Veselekov

[Alt. Rock/Post-hardcore]
They're finally writing a full-length and it'll probably be the best thing ever
3Loss
Despond

[Funeral Doom]
The band confirmed recently we'll be seeing a new album come 2017. It'll be hard to top Despond, but I have no doubt that they'll at least match it. Their label also alluded to a release from Pallbearer as well, which could mean we'll see two strong doom metal releases sometime.
4Persefone
Aathma

[Prog. Metal/Death Metal]
The guys seem to be going towards a different direction with a questionable production quality. It remains to be heard whether or not the album will stack up against Persefone's acclaimed discography. I think we're in for some nice proggy death metal.
5In the Silence
A Fair Dream Gone Mad

[Prog. Metal/Doom]
A follow-up to their excellent debut has been in the works for some time. They have a ridiculous amount of potential and could no doubt start to explode with another successful release. Expect great things from these guys.
6A Lot Like Birds
Conversation Piece

[Prog. Rock/Post-hardcore]
Consider me cautiously optimistic. The drama around the band and the cessation of harsh vocals in their work from now on could spell disaster. Previews have been good though, so I'm hoping that the new album, whenever it arrives, will stack up to its predecessors.
7Vola
Inmazes

[Prog. Metal/Electronic]
After finishing a big tour, the band alluded to sitting down and working on their next full-length. It's not too likely that we'll hear it this year, but we might get a sneak-peak at least. Another group that has high potential.
8Exotic Animal Petting Zoo
Tree of Tongues

[Prog. Rock/Metalcore]
It is incredibly unlikely we'll be hearing a new album from these guys. However, now that they're back to playing shows... I dunno. It could happen. Possibly a single, if nothing else. I WANT TO BELIEVE
9Seizures
The Sanity Universal

[Metalcore/Hardcore]
Recently, they've been teasing something on their social media. Not sure if it will be a new album or EP. Either way, I think we're about to hear some new music.
10Beyond the Bridge
The Old Man and The Spirit

[Prog. Metal]
There are some other bands that have material up their sleeve, but I'd like to highlight this group in particular. They're not incredibly special or anything, but they play very good prog. metal that sometimes can be hard to find. Album recording is currently underway and I'm hoping for a 2017 release.
